Bulls rock Thread

Currently the Blues deserve to win not because they are playing well but because the Bulls are just playing so crap.

Disappointing from the Bulls. Dis-jointed in the loose and impotent in the backs until Engelbrecht came on. Steyn man of the match!!! For the Blues... 3 from 9 and a pass resulting in a turnover... nuff said...

A moment of disorderly behaviour by a Vodacom Bulls fan has resulted in the individual being arrested and removed from Loftus Versfeld as the Blue Bulls Company continue to crack down on fans that step out of line. Immediately after the final whistle in the Vodacom Bulls loss to the Blues last evening, Johannes Gideon Nel dodged security and threw a plastic bottle in the direction of the players, striking winning Blues captain Keven Mealamu. Nel was immediately arrested comments Blue Bulls Company CEO, Barend van Graan;
“We absolutely refuse to accept this unsportsmanlike behaviour and have arrested the individual. The Blue Bulls Company works tirelessly to create an environment that is friendly and fair to all ages, races and nationalities. We want to warn our fans that irrespective of our on field performances, we will not accept ‘fans’ taking out their anger on our opponents. We will respond to this matter timeously and follow the necessary procedures in order to ensure that this individual learns his lesson.”
Nel was immediately escorted to the security control room and later taken to the Sunnyside Police Station where a charge of assault has been laid upon him.
Van Graan concludes;
“We will continue to enforce even stricter security measures as behaviour like this is not welcome at Loftus.”

As a result of the unruly behaviour of a Vodacom Bulls fan at yesterday’s game at Loftus Versfeld, Blue Bulls Company CEO, Barend van Graan has telephonically apologised to Mr Bryce Anderson the manager of the Blues.
Van Graan comments;
“Our High Performance Manager, Mr Ian Schwartz apologised to Blues captain Keven Mealamu at the post match conference. Mr Mealamu not only accepted his apology on behalf of the Company, but was also impressed with the way in which we immediately sorted out the matter. I have spoken to Mr. Anderson and apologised on behalf of our board of directors, managers, Bulls team and supporters. I am delighted that Mr. Anderson and Mr. Mealamu have accepted our apology for this unfortunate incident.”

It is a very unfortunate situation but was very well handled by management.

Keven Mealamu was also asked about the incident in the post match media conference. He said that there is no need to comment and that it happens even in New Zealand. He was laughing along with us all at the end of the night.

Good to hear that they have sorted it out and that Keven has taken it in his stride. I hope this guy will be banned for 5 years + from any sport game....

Hey Apoc - I see your pic made the Beeld cover today. Nice one.

I am very irritated by this incident and hope to hell that this SOB actually sits.

Goes to show how an individual can make or break a team. Morné Steyn is probably the luckiest rugby player to ever play S15.
To play outside the world's best player (FdP) at the start of your career and when he retires, outside of SA's best player (Francois Hougaard), allows him to play almost only what he's good at (kicking and some passing) without much else. It would have been awesome to see Goosen play behind a strong pack and along a great scrumhalf.

Give it time :p The Golden Goosen might just be made an offer.

J/j. I agree with you. Steyn is not a "great of the game" but it is also not fair to over look the fact that he is a in 99% of the cases a very solid flyhalf.

Bulls fan: I did it for Basson

http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/Super15/Bulls-fan-I-did-it-for-Basson-20120313

Pretoria - “I apologise to the Blue Bulls Company, the public, the fans and South Africa,” said the man who was arrested at Loftus Versfeld for throwing an energy drink bottle at Blues captain Keven Mealamu.

According to the IOL website, Johannes Nel, 54, a boilermaker from Welbekend, said he was not at Loftus to make trouble. He said he was a devoted Blue Bulls fan and was concerned that Bulls wing Bjorn Basson was injured after scoring a try in the dying minutes of the match, a match the Bulls ultimately lost 29-23.

Basson appeared hurt after he was tackled by Blues wing Rene Ranger, who has subsequently returned to New Zealand after he was yellow carded and banned for two weeks.

“My only concern was that Basson was all right,” Nel said.

He explained that he and some friends occupied seats on the east pavilion. “We were just about to leave, as it had started raining and there was about three minutes left of the game. This is when Basson scored and was injured. As I saw him lying on the field I panicked and thought he was hurt. I moved down and climbed over the barrier to see if he was all right,” he said.

Nel said he tapped Basson on the back and asked him if he was all right. At that stage someone had handed him (Basson) a bottle of water and he took a sip, turned around and said: “Ek is OK dankie, oom” (I am OK thank you, uncle.)

Nel said Basson then walked back onto the field and he noticed that he had left his water behind.

“I picked up the bottle, called his name, and as he looked around, I passed him his water. This is when it hit the Blues captain,” he said.

Nel said that looking back at what happened, he realised he had done wrong.

“I can understand why they reacted that way but I was not there to make trouble.”

Nel, who has been charged with common assault, was due to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, but according to the State prosecutor to whom the case was assigned, the case wasn’t placed on the roll.

The prosecutor explained that Nel’s docket was screened but not enrolled as it was up to the complainant to initiate further proceedings.

Nel was arrested at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday following the incident and was briefly detained at the Sunnyside police station.

Blue Bulls Company chief executive officer Barend van Graan said no decision had been made on whether Nel would be barred from visiting Loftus.

“We are waiting for the outcome of the court case and will take it from there,” he said.

What a liar that guy is. Check the footage and you can see how he "passed" the water bottle to Basson. Also listen to the lovely words the crowd is shouting near the end... :D
