Yes it could easily happen, except that the machine is generally in plain view of the cashiers and managers so you would more than definitely get your ass kicked out of the BK store.

And again, if you were seen doing that you would be kicked out.. and if you are that desperate to fill a 2l, then go to the damn shop and buy one for R20.....

Though, now that I actually think about it.. of the 3 BK's I know of in Durban, 2 are located within 70m of a Checkers and the other about 200m... So maybe you are right in the end.

So with the recent McDonald's price increases I guess they're completely out of the game for me. Will just walk right past and go to BK from now.

I can pay R60 for a Medium Double Quarter Pounder or R58 for an Extra Long Chilli Cheese with bottomless soda. No contest whatsoever.
 
I tried out the new Burger King in PE yesterday afternoon. The number of cars trying to enter the drive-through was ridiculous. Can't understand why they didn't immediately just leave and get McDonald's or Steers. I went into the store and purposefully ordered only a Whopper and shake because I could see that the delay was clearly the slow chip production. 9+ Whoppers were just sitting in the warmer. They could have grabbed one, put it in a packet and given it to me as soon as I placed the order (milkshake was instant). Instead I had to wait 30 minutes just like everyone else. Probably won't go back in quite a while just because their service is so crap (rude staff as well).

The chocolate milkshake was good - better than the other fast food options I think. My Whopper was only okay. Better than most of what McDonald's offers but not better than Steers.

One thing struck me immediately though - South African Burger King is not as good as the 'real' Burger King in Europe and USA. The Whopper tastes different, the Pepsi alliance is rubbish, there are no onion rings, the chips are different (tried a friend's) and the lack of bacon is a joke. Burger King's best burgers all have bacon on them.

There should be :confused: The BK in Cape Town I ate at certainly had them.

I'll take a Pepsi over Coke any day of the week so that's a bonus for me.

I'll probably go there next month sometime. No rush, I grew up on BK so it's not exactly novel and definitely not worth queuing for!

If they have onion rings they certainly aren't on the menu. Maybe small petrol station BKs don't offer onion rings.
