Buy a new entry level DSLR

I might have a Nikon D3100 for sale incl 18-55mm, 35mm lenses. About a year old. Wasn;t used much. PM me if you are interested. Will prob look at around R2200 (including the 18-55), and then R1800 for the 35mm 1.8

In your price range, I would really recommend a used D90.

I think I will go for a used D3100 rather, may I ask what the D90 has that trumps the D3100?

- Dual Control Wheels
- Top LCD
- Bracketing
- In body focus motor (for old AF lenses)
- Flash Commander Mode (not on D3100 I think)
- Pentaprism

But both are good cameras.

I did not know, but I will have a look at what difference that makes to a weekend warrior photographer :D

I can vouch that guy is legit,he had a tripod i bought off him last weekend - http://www.gumtree.co.za/cp-slr-cameras-in-kloof/nikon-d90-522544502

Sounded like he hadn't been getting much interest so he might move down also

Edit:
Or for the same price D5000 & 2 lenses

I'd sooner buy a used lens than a used camera.

I hope your fears don't become my nightmare, i just today pushed a button on a FX body for 30% less than new,12000 actuations/1 year of warranty left.

The problem I have with comparisons is that I don't know what most terms mean and if it's even relevant for my type of use. So weighting of each feature could be perceived as subjective. just saying I'm confused.

D5100 & kit lens - R4000

Ksingh that is 1 model below the current D5200 that sell's for around R8500(body only).
Tread carefully with Gumtree sellers tho ,there's some real good deals come up but plenty scammers mixed in as well.
If they can upload a photo to Flikr you can look in the Exif info for the real shutter count on the camera.(Sometimes it shows it & sometimes it doesn't - I'm not sure why)

Most if those snapsort results are really subjective anyway so I don't pay them any attention.

Ok

Do these models upload pics as you take them if connected via wifi to the Web?
