My money is already spent on just living. If you hadn't squandered the money that was allocated to you then we wouldn't be in this situation so you can go fsck yourself in unpleasant ways.
 
Why don't you come to my door and give me one for free without the R50 deposit. If you do that I promise I'll try not to forget it at home :erm:
 
In the news this morning on radio, a Vusi Moaner sound bite was played where Vusi claimed that there is an almost equal split between fleet and individual e-tag registrations (600000).

Considering that SANRAL has been and continues to be extremely economical with the truth (for example deciding to go ahead with plans to rollout etrolling nationally which had previously been scrapped by ministerial decree), OUTA should insist that SANRAL uses a reputable auditing firm (like KPMG) to produce and release e-tag registration stats.

What worries me is that a large portion of those fleet registrations are government vehicles. So that means our tax money is going to be spent on tolls --- how long before the tolls on government vehicles exceeds the cost of the road upgrades?

Considering that profit-based taxi and bus companies have managed to butter their way out of being etrolled (regular route registration for taxis might be the fly in that ointment), I doubt that cANCer/government vehicles will be charged when taxis and buses are not being charged.

If cANCer/government vehicles do not escape being etrolled, opposition parties should insist that government conducts a monthly audit on the SANRAL etrolling bills levied on all government vehicles and that the audit results are presented every month in parliament (to ensure that SANRAL is not overcharging tax payers for the use of government vehicles on etrolling routes).

Additionally, there would have to be proof that government vehicles were actually being used for government business at the time of being etrolled (otherwise the bill should be paid by the designated custodian of the vehicle in their personal capacity), this would mean that every government vehicle and official occupant(s) using an etrolling route could be tracked and the speed they were travelling at revealed (distance and speed between gantries).

Tax the stealth taxation system to the brink of collapse.

Hmmm.... I think it was here on MyBB that I read an article pointing out that the large number of e-tags sold that SANRAL likes to brag about is largely made up of government vehicles, so it would appear that they in fact do plan to toll the government vehicles. Of course, this is not really that different from government vehicles paying levies on fuel, except of course minus the excessive profit of the running of the tolling system.

Anyhow, I like your suggestion about monitoring tolling expenditure on a monthly basis. Nothing quite like red tape to take the fun out of running a tolling scam.

I am so between the bark and the tree. My company is paying for all the toll costs. So I had to answer yes ... :(
