Looking good!!! So are you happy??

EDIT: Is your set up pretty much plug and play or is there tweaking required to get this performance out of the drive?

Pretty much plug and play. I didn't even check if there are newer drives on Intel's site for the controller. I did the usual tweaking though. :)

and yes, I am very happy so far. :D

sandmanm34: do you have an old motherboard with no SATA 3 (6Gbps) ports, or did you buy a SATA 2 (3Gbps) SSD?

SATA 3 = 6Gbps
SATA 2 = 3Gbps

The benchmark results that you've posted shows that the SSD is either a 285MB/s / 275MB/s read/write drive, or that its on a SATA 2 port.
Make sure that you're using a SATA 3 (6Gbps) port and that you're using AHCI mode in the BIOS, and not IDE. If you're currently using IDE mode, then you'll have to reinstall Windows most likely.

Your write speeds are better than mine... Maybe I should look to update the drivers. What is your SSDs' firmware, 2.11?

Okay SSD Vertex 3 and read/write rated to 550/500 respectively. MOBO Asus P7P55D LE so SATA 3 (6Gbps correct?) Initially was running in IDE mode, edited registry and forced it into Ahci mode via Bios, results improved by 30% on read but write dropped by around 20%, strange and performance felt slower IE programs were not opening at quick as they were running in IDE mode.....??

I then did a bios update using the asus utility and that caused all sorts of problems (now, this morning last 30 minutes). Couldn't boot or repair windows so have done a reinstallation, in AHCI mode, via USB stick... and that's where I'm at at the mo. Using port 1 for Vertex drive which was the same port used for the primary drive from where windows os was originally installed...

2.11 yes but the Crystaldiskmark test you can select random as well as fill 0 and fill 1. I think your test results are using random where you will better results using either of the other 2... Try it...

Nope, SATA2 aka 3gbps.

Best way. :)

Yeah, just opened and ran, not going to waist time to do the others. ;) I am happy with my drive.

sandmanm32: that motherboard has only SATA 2 (3.0Gbps) ports, which is why you're only peaking at just more than half of its maximum speed.

Thanks guys, the penny has dropped... Bit of a lemon... Damn it!!!

Someone recommended a PCIe SATA card once that was very cheap and has SATA3 (6gbps) ports... Now, how to find it...

mmmm interesting. I guess it's either that or replace the Mobo?? What a bloody ball ache!!! Year old this pc and already outdated!!! Malakies...

Something like this.. ??

Sorry for the 32. I'm a developer, so my numbers are either 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 or 2048 :p

The best that I could find was a PCI-e 4x card with 2x USB3 + 2x SATA 3 (6Gbps) for R500: http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?products_id=39833
All the others that I came across, that was cheaper, had only SATA 2 (3Gbps).

I'm sort of in the same boat with my office PC, where I bought a reasonably expensive P7H55D-M EVO motherboard last year, which has USB3 at least, but no SATA 3 (6Gbps) either :(
The SSD that I have probably peaks at 200MB/s (OCZ Vertex 2 30GB).

That might have been the one, but I want to see if I can get some benchies first, before I buy it. :)
