Buying a Couch

as usual...did they check the couch....could be sitting on millions of $

Rule#1- Stay away from vinyl/ faux leather

Get a couch with a solid structure and high density foam, generally decent brands ( weylandts etc.) cover this well.
If you going fabric, get one with a decent "rub count".

That stuff doesn't last 5 minutes in Durban. I will never make that mistake again.

I like this one in terms of comfort (doesn't look that pretty):

Wife like this one in looks and firmness, I don't find it relaxing:

For brick and mortar store recommendations, Uhmhlanga/ Durban / Pietermaritzburg/ Midlands
Here's something that is at least looker (the ones you have are rather ugly I'm afraid to say). Ballito junction is the closest to you but they only do delivery or pickup, no sales off the floor.

I see greggy already directed you at cielo.

You can't go wrong with Grafton Everot (IMO), I visited the showroom in Umhlanga and found that I could by their range via my local small town furniture store.. didn't go for that option as one of the furniture stores in Value Centre was running special on that Grafton Everot.

Our Coricraft slipcover did not stand the test of time
Tip 1 - Do not go with a light colour.
Two cushion covers split (non-seam) and later the slipcover on the corner seam of couch and on arm rest.

Replacement slipcovers from them are ridiculously expensive, they want you to buy a new couch instead. This is clear from their strategy.
The frame was still sturdy and seems to be well made, a feat considering the type of wood used.

Unsure what your life expectancy of such purchase would be, but I hoped for more than we got.

Tip 2 - Rather save and spend more and buy from a non-mass chain store furniture store.

15-20 years at least.

Yeah that is perfect. Would be nice if I can go test at least. They will need to deliver in Howick.
You can go to their showroom and feast your eyes. You will have to ask if they will deliver from Ballito to Howick, they'll probably do it but it'll cost you.

2-seater vs 3-seater : I'd say that it doesn't really matter. Just make sure that you can lie down comfortably on it. As for material, nothing beats real leather. Just stay away from faux leather or from bonded leather.

My budget is around R10-13K for a 3 seater. Currently I don't need more than a 3 seater.

-Any online shops recommended?
-What to look for and consider when buying a couch?
-Anything you bought in the last 5-10 years that is still manufactured and consider good quality?
-What would you buy/do differently if you had to buy a couch again?

I do have a dog that jumps onto the couch, although trying for her to stop, in the evening she still go sleep there.

I bought a Leather 3 seater (I think Kudu Leather - not "Genuine Leather" but real animal hide) from Ou Hout Meubelaars. Nothing different. I have to asked the wife when we bought it but it was at least 7 years ago and was about R21K at the time. I purchased via lay-buy.
