Hi guys, I need advice. I am looking to buy a used car as my first car. Ive been looking at a 2014 polo 1.4 comfortline with 30000km on the clock, car still has warranty and service plan with vw. The car is selling for R155900. Do you guys think its a good buy? I should go ahead and buy the car or u think otherwise? I need your advice.
I am looking for a car the will be cheap to maintain and not too expensive to rum. Looking to keep the car for years to come..
Please advise me on the pros and cons of the car.

Thank you

Mmm. No turbo, low mileage, interesting. Will wait for the usual crock of sheet that is in coming.

Op seems like a decent car, hard to go wrong with a Polo, not sure on the price but get an insurance quote before going ahead with it, insurance can often be rather exorbitant for Polo's. Whatever you do Japanese or German car brands are typically the best way to go, the Mazda's are quite nice.

Great quality choice as a 1st car. Price is okay keen as considering its a 2014; this is the pre f/lift models. N/A motor not the turbo TSI ones. That's "good" or "bad" depending on your point of view of naturally aspirated motors relative to turbo-charged motors.

Insurance should be decent; resale will be top of the class; quality will be top of the class as well.

If you stretch a notch there a good discounts on the lower models new Mazda 2's & they're properly good cars as well.

Off topic: waits for the inevitable derailment of this thread....3...2....1....

I got an insurance quote from Mi way, it came to around R1167. When you say you're not sur about the price what do you mean?

Naturally aspirated vs turbocharged.. In my opinion I think the naturally aspirated engine would be simple to maintain if something were to go wrong than the new technology TSI one. """Just a thought """"

Have you taken it for a test drive? I'm interested in upgrading to a polo.

That's a lot of money for insurance on a relatively low value vehicle, maybe someone can refer you too an independent broker, they will probably manage to get you a better deal. Polo's are quite high theft risks and as a youngish driver/1st car they will gouge you a bit on the premiums no matter the insurer.

About the price I'm just not sure what they are worth, could be a very fair price. I'd make sure it has had no accidents and has a full service history, get both of those in writing before signing off.

You don't even know their age but you're so certain.

"Their"? I thought there was just the OP wanting to buy this vehicle?

But, conversely, you seem to be advising the OP to accept this quote? Even though some, other than me, have advised to get other quotes?

1. You are ignorant as to what insurance costs younger people (especially modern Polos)
2. You are ignorant about the English language.

Well then sweets, seeing as we have established that I am ignorant, why are you getting your panties in a knot about my ignorance?
