Buying a first car.

Hi guys, I need advice. I am looking to buy a used car as my first car. Ive been looking at a 2014 polo 1.4 comfortline with 30000km on the clock, car still has warranty and service plan with vw. The car is selling for R155900. Do you guys think its a good buy? I should go ahead and buy the car or u think otherwise? I need your advice.
I am looking for a car the will be cheap to maintain and not too expensive to rum. Looking to keep the car for years to come..
Please advise me on the pros and cons of the car.

Thank you

The 1.4 is underpowered. You might be able to get a 2013 or 2014 1.6 comfortline for that price if time is on your side. I have looked for polos for friends on 2 separate occasions this year. The polos sell quite quickly, so keep your eyes peeled, be prepared for what you want and are willing to pay, and act fast if you see a good deal.

Remember, always negotiate.

Try and find a broker.

That's a lot of money for insurance on a relatively low value vehicle, maybe someone can refer you too an independent broker, they will probably manage to get you a better deal. Polo's are quite high theft risks and as a youngish driver/1st car they will gouge you a bit on the premiums no matter the insurer.

About the price I'm just not sure what they are worth, could be a very fair price. I'd make sure it has had no accidents and has a full service history, get both of those in writing before signing off.

1. You are ignorant as to what insurance costs younger people (especially modern Polos)

You calling the members above ignorant as well?

Well then sweets, seeing as we have established that I am ignorant, why are you getting your panties in a knot about my ignorance?

But point this out to me? I will wash and dry your panties if you can..

You're easy to excite. Already up to two posts as you frantically put together your reply/replies. :D

You'd be surprised at the "insane" costs of insurance for younger people, especially with modern higher risk cars.

You immediately wrote off a figure, and said they're (yes, they're, because that is how English works) getting screwed. Without asking their (again, English) age, let alone other important details.

You then go on to say that I don't want them shopping around.

Lol, can't help yourself making huge douchey assumptions, can you.

Three posts.

I could not agree more with them.

I have the 1.6, friend had the 1.4 (Traded up to G7 TSI, awesome car that). The 1.4 slows down on steep hills on the highway if loaded abit... If you are the left lane 80-100km/h highway driver, then the 1.4 is good enough and the fuel consumption will be awesome. I currently get 1km out of every rand of petrol i poor in, but I drive with a foot of stone.

Umm - I said "you are". You are, seemingly, on rather trippy substances...

Please - someone help me with this dude.:wtf:

Come now, you can't be this clueless, dude? Go back to your post. You took issue with my using "their" to refer to the OP, by incorrectly thinking I was referring to more people than just the OP. Therefore you suck at English, dude. You with me now?

You don't even know their age but you're so certain.

Ok - in the context you used it; it meant plural. Willing to bet R500?

you say the 1.4 is underpowered, is it that badly underpowered? Comparing to other cars in its range. Power on paper and in real everyday driving can be different..Is the 1.4 that bad?

I got quotes from other insurance companies, they were all more expensive than that R1167 i got. Kindly refer me to any brokers if you know any.

I must say that is extreme. Do you live in a high risk area or something?
