Buying a Mac

That's on ordinary sites. I don't download from a.....box.sk any more, not since the 90's have ended. As for pr0n MET doesn't do Javascript or active-x,
ordinary sites do :). (kidding about MET though, it's way too expensive) :)

Having to run an AV product which wants 1-3MB per day in updates,
a Firewall product and an Anti-malware product not to mention a HIPS
product too. Don't need any of that nonsense on Mac. Not to mention
the ton of .exe virus attachments I get in my already scanned mweb mailbox.

The constant prompts about Program X reading Program Y's memory or windows
services want to connect out even though they were not asked too, its just too much
time. Constant popups - this update necessary or your USB device works (mouse) or
your network is connected or your network is malfunctioning (even though it works - iburps)
- no such nonsense on the Mac.

Honestly the Mac is the serious, mature OS. Windoze is a constant attention whore.
And the thing I hate most about Windows is when it steals the focus of attention, you
are typing something away, a stupid non-critical error dialog box appears and
your typing all goes to waste. Obviously the USER is the least important person in
this equation.

Mac FTL. Overpriced fashion statement.

I'm going to join your conversation here, seeing as there are so many fanboys.

I am thinking of getting an iMac (for the cool-factor). How difficult is it get to know your way around? I have never ever used a Mac, and I will be using it for business, so I cant waste a month learning this thing. I am by no means technically challenged (I think - as long as you explain it step by step :) )

I have just one concern. I posted another thread, but no replies so far.

I have an HP CL CP1215, and have read mixed reviews on whether it can work with Mac. Most guys are using foo2hp, and seem to be getting results. I cant buy a Mac that doesnt work with the printer, its only a month old and I cant return it.

Please give me your opinions.!

I switched to Mac about 2 months ago and the transition is very smooth. I only battled to import my mail. It took me a few hours to become comfortable with the Mac and maybe a week to master it. The software is very simple to use.

I already replied to the other thread to say that there are no drivers for the Mac on that particlar model as yet.

Thx MaryJane!

So I can ask you for help with the transfer of emails! ;)

I got my first mac, a 24" iMac last year.

Go to a mac shop, and they will give u a lesson on how it works, about 20 min.
U can also go to free classes if u want.

You take it out the box and plug it in.
That would be how the install process works.
U get a thing called iLife included with the mac which takes care of most of your multimedia software needs.
Codecs, software etc, u can just ask here.
Don't worry about anti virus, anti spyware etc.

If u want to install windows, u insert the windows CD, boot camp does the rest. Then do your anti virus, anti spyware etc.

I got myself my first mac this year and it only took me about 10 mins to get the hang of it, a bonus is that you have the iPhone so you can sync all your contacts, safari bookmarks, mail accounts to your mac from your iPhone and it would be like you have not missed a thing.

Converting Outlook PST - Mac Mail - Entourage = O2M
Converting Outlook Express - Mac Mail - Entourage = Thunderbird
Converting Vista Windows Mail = By hand into Entourage

@aqua - i know, this iPhone has me totally converted to Mac. Just a bit nervous aboug getting used to the OS, but then you guys are here to help, hey? :)

Thx StbA! Will def be back here once I take the leap, to get more info.

Hee hee! You fanboys are committed!

I went to Incredible Corruption, they are the closest reseller, they agree, I should bring the printer and see if it works before I buy. Now to convince hubby....

Mmmmmm, this pc sounds like its about the take-off.....:p
