Hang in there, Alan! In the New Year you will get fantastic specials, cos a lot of companies must clear stock, etc + so many new things coming out.

My brother also wanted to upgrade now and I told him he'd be silly to... he took my advice. :)

Yeah I think I'll wait. I ran some benchmarks on two cold days and the result was optimal :) . So that confirms overheating IMO.

I'm looking for motherboards that support Dual Core as well as DDR ram and PCI Express16x. I have only found this one:

I don't know if you can get it here but it costs around R450 from Newegg. Plus it's Micro ATX so will it fit in my case.

So nobody knows anything about this board :( or any others that take ddr1 ram.

Afaik only two chipsets exist that support DDR and a Core 2 Duo with it's 1066Mhz FSB ... one Via and Intel 865 ... ASRock and Asus makes two boards respectively that caters for this.

I am using the Asus one (P5PE-VM) with a Core 2 Duo E6400 here at home but note it has an AGP slot only ... it makes for a cheap interim upgrade if you have DDR400 memory and a decentish AGP card.
