Buying a UPS

Expensive, but that is the way to go. Lead-Crystal.

Need modified UPS/charger, though, characteristics are different.

Anybody bought from these guys

Good price, but is the batteries good quality though.
Price is good because they are refurbished batteries. Not sure how well a deep cycle battery performs - or for how long - when refurbished. Hopefully someone on the forum can enlighten us.

The batteries I am using in my upstairs setup are Royal batteries. Had these for about 5 or 6 years now and still going well.

The ad does say it's Royal, but what does desulfated mean

Ive heard rumours about that company selling refurb batteries.

If you do end up buying from them let us know how the deal goes. buying one or two from them is worth the risk but in my case 8+ not going to take a chance.

My RCT 2000vas only last about 30 min when running 110w LCD tv, 12v 2amp router and amazon fire tv

Last longer with just modem plugged in

What batteries are you using or is it still stock...?

What other ups are available on the market where you can use only 1 deep cycle battery. Is it possible to it that way.

Is it really necessary for an inverter?

What's the cheapest route for me to go. I have the RCT2000 ups and a 160ah deep cycle battery

There are plenty of 12V inverters and UPS's on the market. Typically under 1000W are 12V.

The biggest concern using a UPS the way we are, is running them long, and the long charge time. Can lead to overheating.

If this RCT2000 works out the way we are testing (2 x deep cycle batteries), then I would recommend you get either a smaller RCT that is 12V, or a second battery the same as you have now.

Or any 12v ups then

Some of them can't handle the long charge time needed for these deep cycle batteries. Seems to come down to the quality of the UPS. So double check this.

Whatever UPS you decide on, Google it and see if anyone has successfully used a deep cycle with it.

I have an ECO140 12V UPS. It is useless with a deep cycle. So ye - some work this way, some don't.
