I'm on a 512k 3gig Telkominternet ADSL account. 2 days ago (30 September) it happened that I needed to download a 7.2gig file from overseas. P2P. I need this file before friday this week - and so I set it to download...estimated to take about 4-5 days depending on speed.

So, I wasn't capped on the 30th September, but had only downloaded just under 2 gigs of this file. The remaining 5 gigs will be done this week, which leaves me with no "cap" left (I'm assuming that I won't be capped at exactly 3 gigs, as telkom uses that "average" cap thing...and it's very early in the month)

Some friends told me you can just buy more bandwidth from telkom when you get capped. If I get capped at say 7 gigs, and I buy another 2...will I still be capped as my original cap is 3 gigs? (and 3+2=5gigs)

I wish my line was faster, my PC has been on for 2 days straight now...

No, the new 2 gigs will be a seperate account, with a seperate user-name and password. You may even get a few gigs over the new cap.

Thanks for the info :-)

Might just end up going with webafrica as the prepaid thing is easy...

why not buy pre-paid from somebody like web-africa for R70 per GB .. think that will work out a bit cheaper than the telkom 3GB accounts and that which you do not use you can then carry over for the future when you happen to get capped.

Sorry did not see you already mentioned the WA prepaid ...
