how much do coca cola sell their cokes to pick and pay et al . how much profit does pick and pay earn form every 500ml/2l/1l of coke they sell

Coca Cola don't sell anything to retailers directly, the franchise bottlers do Coke is only responsible for brand management and marketing , the amount of profit for the big retailers fluctuates depending on discounts and promotions that Coke runs, all soft drinks though have a healthy margin so everybody wins, the retailers, the bottlers and Coke themselves.

The profit on a case of coke (can's) sold at the recommended retail price is R33.50

The profit is not as "healthy" considering you'd have to pay for electricity/storage to keep them refrigerated. So if you are a small retailer with very limited space you'd more than likely only break even depending on the volume you're able to keep cool and sell.

Big retailers usually get a bit more of a discount than "small fry" since they buy in enormous quantities. Not everybody "wins"

Where did you hear this? My brother in law has been a sales rep for coca cola for years and I beg to differ.

He's correct.Coca Cola sells only the concentrate, nothing else. The bottlers make the drink and sell it to the retailers and to other depots.

Your brother works for penbev, abi or one of the other bottlers.

True, the concentrate they get from Coca Cola directly is actually highly corrosive and can burn through things.. I mean it is almost pure sulfuric acid.

Worked with a coke rep once, retailers often make very little profit on 2L, specials on coke bring in more customers.

I stopped buying coke years ago when 2 liters went over R10.

Now I just buy the Pick and Pay no name brand or other cheaper bottled cooldrinks (usually only for parties).

Otherwise we just drink cold water at home.

Cool drink prices are a rip off in South Africa.
