That's purely speculative. I get almost 3 days battery life out of my Razr Maxx with WiFi, HSDPA, Bluetooth and push notifications for all my apps that support it (including emails) all enabled.

Wrong. A normal phone running on HDPA/Wifi will spend less time transmitting and receiving data since it is doing so at higher speed. A BlackBerry typically operates on EDGE speeds or worse and therefor takes more time to retrieve the same email, it uses more energy in the process.

I believe it has been made pretty clear now...from Vodacom anyway. No device running BB10 will utilise either BIS or BES. These services should be removed from your line when you upgrade as it will be a chargable service that you will pay for, but cant use. Devices still running BB7 or older will continue to use BIS/BES as normal.....................................for now....../dum dum dum. - kidding ..... or am i???

Great you have a Razr maxx with a HUGE 3,300mAH,I have owned many androids,iphones and many bb's and no phones have that size batteries,there is no doubt in my mind that androids sync drains your battery.My bb 9900 battery is just a third of the size at 1,200mAH and lasts me a day and a half to two with everything switched on.

They don't look so bad here as they do on the phone itself since they are way out of proportion and over-sized relative to the text.BBM emoticons are just neater,but whats your point?

What does it matter? Your claim is that push emails eat more juice on other platforms, something that is purely speculative. My battery life remains the same with or without push notifications.

More reliable except for when it went down for 3 days straight, whatsapp was down once for me for about an hour. And whatsapp's userbase of 200 million + easily trounces BBM.

And before you say yes your data is R59 a month and Android is pay per MB I mentioned in the other BB thread yesterday I have a duel core 1.2Ghz android phone with a R79 topup vodacom contract and a 3GB Mtn light Uncapped contract with a router and on my android phone with the mtn sim inserted in sim slot 2 I got 670KB/s on a nzb download earlier this morning. All in all everything costs me about R430 a month including the phone and if I remember correctly that is slightly cheaper than a blackberry 9900 contract. Would also love to add hom many services BIS blocks. Cant even ftp, Rdp, Ssh, Teamview or vnc from the phone.

When was this? two years ago?On a daily basis BBM is far more reliable than whatsapp which sends delayed messages often..

whatsapp was down once for me for about an hour. And whatsapp's userbase of 200 million + easily trounces BBM.

Were talking in the South African context where BBM has far more users than whatsapp.Also user base doesn't mean "active users" ,I have around 50 whatsapp contacts that are basically dead and dont ever do anything to the whatsapp and many don't even have the app but they still show on my list, while my 30 BBM contacts are far more active.

Guys I dont have a problem with whatsapp,I quite love the idea of a cross platform messenger and i also love viber and the concept of viber .Hence i have installed both and support both.Unfortunately those are quiet places since most of my friends/family/groups etc are all ALREADY on BBM and pretty active on there.

When I did not have a BB for a fews months stretch I found myself left out of the loop on a number of times.BBM owns the South African mobile social scene whether you guys want to admit it or not.

You've just pointed out a well known fact for the bigger networks but this isn't true for 8ta or cell c(It is suspected or alleged that the MTN and vodacom BIS pipes are clogged),I largely get the same speeds on BIS or normal only pings tend to be higher because of the round trip to the UK and back on my 8ta BIS.

But yes I'm sure you will be quite happy now that OS10 will balance that issue out for you since it uses normal data so no more slow BIS on Vodacom and MTN for you.

Yeah, the BB emotions look so 16 colour. Guess its to keep them compatible with the screens in BB devices, none of them come close to AMOLED units :D
I also see that BB only has 45 emotions which you seem to harp on about. Whatsapp has 900 more, its got 945 emotions.

The reason they run on EDGE like speeds is because of BIS and they way the cell networks handle BB data.
