I use all of them... IE (only for banking when necessary), FF, Chrome, Opera, and Safari (occasionally).

FF is my main browser.

But I have had to completely erase and re-install it once or twice in my lifetime.

if you are ever having problems with malware or spyware loading pop-ups or ads... just get this HOSTS file....

You're no noob, so why behave like one blaming FF for your own self-made problem? You allowed the adware to get on there. IE will suffer the same problem. Probably worse. Rather spend a bit of time trying to find out how to rid yourself of the adware, as some above have tried to show you. A bit of searching, deleting a couple of reg keys and you're usually cleaned up pretty fast. These things are generally pretty lame and easy to clean in my experience. I'm only prompted to post this 'cos it burns my butt hearing people blaming something or someone else for their own ****ups. FF is a good browser. It can't be your babysitter though.

Hey fellow Nooby, I tried many things, did EVERYTHING suggested on the net the only thing that really worked was to remove FF. I will reinstall it later to see if the cr@p returns.

BTW a good Browser are supposed to "Babysit" you and protect you against these ad popups and porn sites if set up to do so. All browsers should do it but it seems that these LoudMo crowd somehow bypasses everything on FF but it did not infect IE. I am sure it is the "FLV direct" addon but why FF and not IE?

BTW I also had many FF crashes for no reason. All this may have started just after I upgraded to 3.6 recently.

Pray, do tell, how are they to do it? :D

I rely on Smoothwall and Dansguardian/URL Filter to protect my network from nasty pages :D No need to have the browser do it - I rely on the lowest common denominator - the firewall - to do that :D

Hey Penguin, can understand you getting all pissy over some hijacking hijinks with your browser - but that is part of computing :D

Hope a simple reinstall can fix your problem.

You can also take a look at Seamonkey.

Interesting solution to an adware infestation. :erm:

I tried many things, did EVERYTHING suggested on the net
Perhaps we could suggest more things to try if we knew what has been tried so far.

Try to reinstall it and you shouldn't have any problem. Firefox has his issues but it's a good and safe browser.
