C.A.P.E. party

Its a little bit more blurred now than provincial borders

Cape Town - Stormers
JHB - Lions
Pretoria - Bulls
Durban - Sharks
Bloem - Cheetahs

then there are a few others I can't rem atm :p
Ooooh ok that's cool. Who are the cats? I probably sound well ignorant lol, but I only ever get to see the Bokke play in big internationals. Am hoping the Lions tour will be on a channel I subscribe to.

Everyone graduates from WC?

really? so none of the other provinces have universities or students?

Industry? The Western Cape has had the fastest growing industry over the past few years.
citation please.
And besides, I think that if we did start and independent nation, much of joburgs companies may be moved south,
Probably not. It's an extremely costly exercise to move manufacturing companies. Not to mention moving platinum and gold seams and diamond encrusted rocks would probably require an act of G*d. And shifting your investment into an uncertainty like a new country would probably be stock share suicide.
as it is usualy the fact that the JSE is run their that the companies, banks and such are all situated there, all ur students move to gauteng too, where as if CAPE had it's way there woul be a Cape stock exhange, and trough that more companies woul move to be setup, and remain in the cape.
Not quite...resources, people, water, relatively *reliable* electricity, inexpensive manufacturing and labour, biggest and busiest airport in Africa, largest concentration of wealth and accessibility to vast stretches of agricultural and industrial land all contributes to why companies set up shop up here. The stock exchange opened up shop here because of businesses open here, not the other way round.

Why are all the head offices in JHB when everyone graduates from WC????

...brain-theft

nobody really needs or wants to be inJHB, it's only that things started there centuries past, but now since the gold has run up, you've got to mine cape town

[joke]
Whose to say that the people that graduate from WC aren't Gautengers? Who due to lack of brainy people in the Cape were shipped there to make the Cape look brainy? :D[/joke] :D

Most people move up to Gauteng for the simple reason that they get paid much more here. Simple reality. And it's where they want to be.
That's not going to change. So people will continue to move to Jhb to work here.
You think an independent state would change that?

TB addressed the other point of all people graduating in WC.

GDP = consumption + gross investment + government spending + (exports − imports),

The gross geographic product (GGP) of a particular area amounts to the total income or payment received by the production factors – (land, labour, capital, and entrepreneurship) – for their participation in the production within that area.

how on earth do you decide that the cape is where all the action happens?

point is that thegold boom has died, and gold plays a small roll in our economy today. as stats suggest, WC has the most educated as a percentage, and thegreat number of those move to gauteng to proft on the remains of the cmpanies which have been arud as a result of the goldboom. Many of these companies were probably cape town based initially too, and ha to move to JHB fr admin reasons. Now that there s litte gold left, why is JHBstill controling everything, when all the action happens in the cape?

I think that there may(my spculations) be reaso to see CAPE create a self sustaining state, and that, considering it's foundations are based on growth, would grow into a sucessful nation, possibly first world status.

dunno, only speculation, read my sig

Sorry mate from what you're saying, Gauteng is running out of gold? Um sorry but in this case I'd like some sort of confirmation....

That's the first I'd heard of it. If gold was running out the price would increase (surely?)

EDIT: Gauteng is the biggest single economy in Africa as far as I've read? Even if the gold ran out I doubt it would stop it from being that big economy.

It is not gold alone that labels johannesburg as the econimic hub of south africa

and gold plays a small roll in our economy today. as stats suggest

What? Evidently you don't know all that much about our country's economics then. Please provide a link for these stats...

Its biased and is trying to justify its warped view of the country with incorrect "facts"
