Okay, so with C&C 4 coming out soon, I've found out that they are releasing more C&C games for free download.

I was downloading the files at work and I was getting 350KB/s...

but then they're multithreaded and all coming down at once...

Nice. Haven't played Firestorm or Tiberian Dawn yet, so looking forward to that. Tiberian Sun was awesome, so those are likely to be too.

One of the virtual machine apps can do basic directx...can't remember which one, but that should work.

Playing these on today's, machines, you really have to slow the game down a lot, or you will get eaten within the first 2 mins.

i finally found a cooked version of the DLL that was causing grief... and i've given up playing the games already...

640x480 just doesn't work on my screens

and I have to redownload tiberium sun.... it got screwed up in the dl process somehow...

Yeah, old titles like these remind me of Airwolf and McGuyver, they were incredible in their day but now look very dated. I've found the fond memories of these games are a lot better than the reality of re-installing them and finding them either to garrish or too simplistic to enjoy.

Saying that, Transport Tycoon somehow managed to be timeless.
