I know this should ideally go in the biltong thread but I fear it would simply melt away with everything else.

So as the title states...any idea where I can find C-grade silverside in JHB...? Do we have "meat markets" or similar here...? (I know there is a place in PTA but I'm trying to find a place closer to home)

Thanks

They surely have topside if they have mince. If your local butcheries don't stock mince at all I highly suggest you contemplate moving.

Feeling annoyed at the lack of available meat....so.......BUMP...! (Yes I know this has been discussed ad nauseum in the biltong thread already):(

Sorry I have to ask. Why grade C?

What is C, 6 years and older?

Taken from the biltong Group on FB:
Beef A is younger specimen, B older and C oldest then it get numbered like C6 means old and plenty fat, A0 means calf lean. Colour of the fat is just telling you what his diet is like yellow fat-yellow corn.
Pigs in SA get classified get classified with the word" Porcus". P is very lean. S very fat

Pitbull it is the meat with a nice amount of yellow fat and not the chalky white fat.

O cool. Makes sense :)

I was wondering why the hell would one buy meat from an old one as opposed to a young one. Normally one buys the younger ones for cooking. The fat part makes lots of sense. Thanks.
