Cabinet pushes through e-tolling legislation

Despite the inter-ministerial committee – under the leadership of deputy-president Kgalema Motlanthe – meeting with stakeholders to discuss e-tolling and possible alternatives, cabinet has approved the Transport Laws and Related Matters Amendment Bill for submission to Parliament.

According to cabinet, the bill had been necessitated by the development of the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP) as well as future plans for road infrastructure development.

They could rewrite the entire Constitution, people are just going to refuse to pay.

What part of that don't they understand .

Difference is now they will lock you up. This bill is specifically designed to deal with people who refuse to pay

Nope

Make examples of a few dozen, that will do the trick

LOL

Unconstitutional eh, u think the cANCer gives a toss?

Not going to work very well with people who simply DO NOT have the money but still have to get to work in order to make a living.
The first judge it comes to will throw it out on constitutional grounds.

Don't buy an e-tag = they have to snail mail an invoice ( 500,000 invoices which they need to administer )

If only 10% don't pay...... but it will be more likely around 90% .

They postponed the whole thing because nobody bought e-tags.

Nothing has changed.

I hope you are right!

We proved before that the threat of mass action works, we'll just have to do it again.

Democracy in action. :)

I'll go out of my way to not pay a cent for the e-tolling scam.
I'd rather upgrade to a 4x4 and drive the potholed back roads at my own expense than hand over R500 per month to these thieves.

It's time that the ANC give an account for the money collected from the existing fuels and levies, and stop trying to milk the middle class.

And I'm prepared to bet they haven't yet begun to put together a database of all the taxi s which need to be exempted.

Can they please tell employers to give an icrease to match their demands.
I can not afford this.

The legislation makes provision for govt to deduct the fines and penalties from people's salaries!!!!

Nuwe tol-wetsontwerp goedgekeur
2012-08-03 12:06

So your car is linked to your Tax which is linked to your pay check?

I think this will be appealed? This is bs.
