Cable project mess

"There’s a simple solution: it’s time for governments to abandon their control-freak dreams and do all they can to support private players who are far more able to do the job."

Amen.

tending to agree with biltonguy. African govts think they all that meanwhile they couldn't organise a p!ssup in a brewery

Personally, I couldn't agree more and I wish the DoC and ICASA would pay attention to that idea.

But I reckon it's more likely that our esteemed Minister of Communications would put her fingers in her ears and scream "I can't hear you!"

Only way out is a "hit and run with a 50ton truck" for our esteemed minister.

Meanwhile Seacom is progressing on schedule. This should shame old Ivy, but of course we all know she has no shame. Why oh why haven't they learned yet that government and telecoms don't mix yet? Just keep out of it!!

At least seacom and essay are on their way.
Couldnt care less about this cable because the odds are it will never materialise

Now tell me something I don't know about cable messes...:D

Someone give this journo an award!
Amen!

No...its good this way. Now the Gov has a cable that it can bicker about & screw up....while Seacom just goes and gets it done quietly.

Without a gov backed cable, they would try to interfere & control Seacom.

Hear Hear .. someone said it and I believe it ......

Let the government HAVE their cable .. they can use to link schools and libraries to the rest of the world .. Im happy with eassy and seacom

Perhaps by the time eassy and seacom are ready to be replaced .. the government can make a cheap offer and pretend like its their own cables going operational .. finally.. LOL .. governments and communications .. what a JOKE
