Cable theft delays SEACOM

Haha that was great, I had a real FFS moment! RPM knows just the right buttons to push, years of "imminent" followed by dashed hopes has trained us well :D

Me too and then i saw a thread in OT asking what RPM's april fools would be. At that point a light bulb went off in my head.

But then again, you do get idiots who steal FO cable thinking its copper. Most of those thieves probably don't even know the difference or care to know. Either way they either get $$$ from the copper, or a toi-toi weapon from the useless FO.
 
Hahaha... I was about to pack my bags to leave this country, that would of been the last straw!

Truth be told they do actually steal FO cable, for the kevlar in the cable. It's not as prolific as copper theft though.

DAMMIT, that was a good one... I almost said it was bound to happen... I was ready to take out all the darn thieves in SA if they damaged that cable... Lucky B@st@rds....

And the thieves use the kevlar for what? Homemade bulletproof vests?

Surely the landing station is a strategic key point with suitable protection measures? OTOH, considering how Greenpeace managed to get onto the roof of the Koeberg nuclear plant a few years ago that doesn't seem to mean much.

More BAD News

Hi ,

Not sure if you guys heard ........

ALL of the SEACOM bandwidth has been taken over by the LOC.

They need it ALL for 2010

FIFA and the PSL need it for their Soccer IPTV program.

There are some problems with the TELKOM Infrastructure and provisioning.

SORRY -- but that is the way things go here.
