Calabash 2025

On the negative side, a friend had their phone snatched calling an Uber at the drop-and-go section.
Police should have spent more time watching for skelms and less time arbitrarily blocking roads to the venue.

It is interesting reading all of your reviews. I agree with some and disagree with others., but then I am easy to please and don't go to things with executions.

Park and Ride was well organised but to hellandgone in that heat. But walking back was easier -and I had expected it to be worse as we were dead by that time.

Merch was badly stocked and not all sizes were available but I got two cool T-shirts and a cap.

Drinks were horribly overpriced but not unexpected. We had eaten at Ocean Basket in Centurion before catching the bus - so we did not buy any food there.

I have not heard much of Fokof Poliesiekar but I am now a fan! What a fantastic group!!! I was really impressed and loved how many fans they had. I will definitely be adding them to my playlist.

The Offspring was amazing!!! Soooo much energy and they had the crowd in their hands.

This is where my opinion differs. I thought Green Day were fantastic! I loved how 50+ men could sing and play at that intensity for 2 straight hours! I had trouble walking from the bus to the venue - I was hot and sweaty by the time we got there. Their sets flowed perfectly from one into the other and they tried to get a tired crowd worked up. And they did manage - except for a few places where we weren't expecting it. Mike Dirnt was fantastic on the guitar - but it was a little loud. Most of their audio was on the loud side. A poor chap in the row in front of me kept blocking his ears. But his rhythm was on point even while Billy Joe chattered away. He didn't miss a beat. When we thought they were nearly done - at 1h30, a lot of people started walking out. In my opinion they missed an awesome segment of the show. So yes - I have always been their fan - and I had a fantastic time listening to them and watching. The camera work was also on point and their switching was slick and precise.

Oh the whole I feel it was real value for money. I will go back and see all of those bands again.

Oh and all the bands had great drummers and guitarists. I was really impressed by their skill. Every girl loves musicians

I mean would you have been able to? I wouldn't have because IU dont know the song that well. AND I think being on stage in front of that many people would be very intimidating for most people
i would most likely just have done the same thing

Thanks for sharing - it is awesome how much of a difference being a true fan can make to your experience. All in all it was great, but I told my wife that I will only go back to a show at FNB stadium if it is REALLY special. Oudword is nie vir sissies nie.

I agree. And next time I will probably drive and pay for parking in the stadium. I presume whichever band it will be, will be worth that cost. Park and Ride to Ellis park is a pleasure though.

This is also partially why i opted for the stadium lounge , the arrival and exit is way easier , and the food really was good ( oh , and then the drinks  )

I am, glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. for me there was nothing wrong with the Greenday show, the mixing ruined it and made me want them to get back to playing because I could not make out what Billy was japing on about due to the Mixing. and we were dead center behind the Audio engineers, so they heard it like we did, it was not angle to the speakers or anything like that.

also glad you are now a FPK fan. I feel like I failed as an FPK fan for not introducing you to them sooner.

I can’t freakin wait for the Cape Town show on Thursday. Haven’t been this excited for a show since Foo Fighters!!! I’m also so glad I’m doing it in Cape Town this time.

Staying over at friends in apartment in Sea Point, meeting mates at the waterfront for lunch and pre drinks and then walking to the stadium, and being able to walk to our overnight spot again.

I definately won’t miss the 2 hour plus park and ride busses for FNB stadium, especially when leaving a show

It is never too late to start. I have already been recommended that I start with Lugsteuring. So will start there.

You were in the golden circle? I did that with The Script and realised that not being able to sit on a chair definitely affected my enjoyment. Besides - you know how short I am. I saw mainly backs and heads.

Im trying to see how i can get to Cape town for a round 2, but it looks pretty much sold out

I am sold!!
Realistically,

Decent seats, R2000 or so?
Drinks , easily R500+ per person
Food , well, you saw what it cost for Wors rolls and popcorn

then the added bonus of the parking situation,

The tickets are not cheap, but overall the value for me was there , they also have much tidier bathrooms, and waiters up and down from your seat bringing snacks, drinks, etc , the seating is also not full if that makes sense, you have your pick of where you want to sit, and there is ample open seats, so you not crowded, for me , the price for me was worth it

look I am an oldschool fan who started listening to them when only tygferberg Fliegtuigramp was out. so to me that is the best album.
lustering is also good, and possibly a good place to start. but starting wiht the most played songs on spotify is also not a bad plan.

and we were not in golden Circle. we had seats, but I picked them based on where the Audio engineers set up to test so I could have the same experience as them

Yep - I took my son so there were two of us. Approx 1600 for the seats, 350 for park and ride, 60 per beer and had about 3 each, plus water and coke. And I had to be hot and sweaty at the beginning of the show. I will definitely think this through next time. There will be a next time.
