Calabash 2025

access control is a **** show. Takes forever to get in. Seems to be lots of issues with Ticketmaster app.

Once inside, if you go buy beer, buy lots. There are hopelessly too few bars and the stadium isn’t even close to capacity yet.

Sound engineers need to be fired. Never heard FPK sound so **** in my life.

Also, no proper beer. Selection is only Castle Lite and flying fish and something called black crown - and the beer stall doesn’t have any water or soft drinks, so you need to go into a separate que for that.

Serious buyers remorse so far… hoping the international bands make up for it.
Did you think of drinking beforehand then it wouldn't be that much of a problem?

they are always in the middle of the stage
How far behind them would be the ideal location or should you aim for as close to their actual location as possible?
where I was in the stands there were a few people lighting up joints.

I am pretty sure I saw a few people snorting something as well, it was during bad habbit so I found it too fitting to do anything about that one.

They are very strict about Food and Drink though, multiple check points at FNB that made sure you did not get though with anything
Do they pat you down?
It can't be that hard to sneak in smaller food and liquids, just don't make it obvious

We did, but it’s hot, and we wanted more.

But I take back everything in my previous post. Offspring were good, but Greenday were freaking phenomenal! What a show! Everything was incredible. It was so good not having beer wasn’t even remotely a concern.

Offspring was Epic!!

So happy they closed with "come out and play" - one of my favorite songs.

Greenway was next level - their energy was a nonstop rush. Both my 12 and 16 year old loved it.

Side road behind petrol station as you drive into Greenpoint - figured it would make it easier getting out of town after concert.
Pity. I parked at the waterfront. Cost R30 from 17h00 to 23h30.

Need some insight from the peeps who went to the CPT show last night, asseblief.

Going tonight for FPK, Offspring and Groendag. Planning on leaving my house at 3pm.

  1. What queues to expect, time to get in?
  2. Chances of smokkeling a few edibles into the venue (I know they don't allow outside food/drink but thought I could tell them its for "bloodsugar" lol)
  3. Traffic/Ubers getting out?
For Robbie Williams got in at 6pm, walked straight to the front. Im getting too old to stand for 5 1/2 hours honestly. There was a big family next to us, all teen daughters so the women all bundled together and the men was behind. A few tried to push in closer to the start of RW but there was some Afrikaans guy with a Robbie shirt that reminded me of Jack Parow. Moustache and all. Anyone trying to cause trouble and he was quick, gaan vk aftertoe. Anyway was entertaining.

Parking I prefer the waterfront parking next to the market. Have some water in the car as a backup because it can take a while to leave. Drive back out towards the stadium when you finally got out. Took up about 40 minutes but was listening to Robbie Williams in the car.

I saw someone posted a youtube of RW.

They really need to get a directional microphone

yeah - did that last night; getting out of V&A after took almost 40min which is exactly why I parked outside on Wednesday night but still better than losing stuff and having to deal with insurance ;-)

Awesome, i think perhaps the crowd at jhb were maybe just sobering up

Lol that grind at 24:54 is so awkward to watch.

if you are golden Circle, be in front of them at the back of the crowd for best audio. if you are general standing, try be next to them becasue you cant be in front, and behind them you cant see anything.

seated you want to be behind them, but not bottom row because you wont see over them, maybe 3 or 4 rows from the bottom. depends on the stadium and how high off the grass the front seated row is. ideal seated place is the first row where you can easily see over them while seated, that will give you best sound and decent view.

I was pat down 3 times, all 4 of us were. and bags were checked. others were clearly luckier and was never searched.

Excellent show.

I was a bit worried reading the comments from the JHB show, but last night Greenday was a 10/10.

Probably one of their best performances the last few years (using youtube clips from other shows as reference...) Totally switched on.

Sound had never been great in that stadium. It has poor acoustics, but that being said Offspring were great, Greenday has some good songs too.
Security however was non existent. Some guys were looking to cause trouble for a while, throwing cups at people. Fight broke out, one got PKed. The chic has to mission to find security and paramedics to help the poor guy lying on the floor.

We were surrounded by geriatric millennials in front zone standing and had a pretty good time. Everyone was relaxed, likely caused by several folks lighting up.

Yeah, basically to get a beer you should be leaving during the previous set if you wanted to catch the opening of the next set.

After the second beer I was like NAF.

Agreed Greenday was probably the best performance of the night and he learnt from JHB bringing someone up that knew the lyrics.

Other than that, only bother was hoping a cup didn't come your way. Near the end people seemed to think it was OK to do it. (or alchohol thought so)

omfg I feel you on this one!

was livid that the bar selection was the same piss poor sewage they served at the last Rugby 7's, I cannot stomach Castle Lite at all, never even got a buzz going and got sober as a priest as the night progressed

WTAF SAB/ABInbev?!? you have slightly better beer than that, f-me just provide at least ONE other option???

PS: on the day black crown was ok, it is premixed gin & tonic, but I also can't do that much sugary nonsense

later on it didn't matter anyway, the queues were too long and woe is you if you exceeded you card's tap limit and the piece-of-shyte Yoco machines had to go online to approve your transaction ... none of them could connect when surrounded by 40 thousand other mobile phones

on a point of order: there was no beer at the Cape Town stadium, flavoured beer is NOT beer and heartburn Lite is NOT beer

earlier in this thread I saw someone from the JHB concert post a menu that included Black Label ... I don't even like black label, but would have killed to have that instead of Castle Lite only in CPT

Just arrived back in Namibia from the Cape, what a effin blast that was, well worth the trip..

Hit the Brauhaus around 14hoo for warm up, was expecting to meet up with a couple of ex Namibians who were also attending, landed up with about twenty five people including a mate from this forum who flew in from Jhb. A few hostel mates from the eighties also rocked up, ironic considering our hostel was about a five minute walk from where the Waterfront is today…

Went on a wee bender, had a couple of WhK draughts then switched to Guinness only to find piss excuse of a beer t the stadium, so had to knock back twelve of those and wondered why I had my first hangover in nineteen months…

The Offspring were awesome and Greenday were brilliant playing thirteen of my 14…

In all a great experience and was proud that my son and English HO went to their first concert with me…

Felt sorry for our uber driver afterwards…so gave him a pretty tip..

R60 a beer is robbery.
