Call to stop support for swipe payments

The US is so far behind it's not even funny...

We traveled there last year. Walmart and Costa only accept cards; there is no tap-and-pay. All the hotels we stayed in asked us to use a card for a hold—again, no tap-and-pay allowed.
 
Some say we're only ahead because some countries are used for experimenting on. I believe that.
 
End game is the end of cash and the rise of programmable digital currencies which is most definitely not a good thing for the man on the street. People really haven't thought out the consequences of their beloved technology leaps and bounds.

But fortunately, being Africa, maybe not here for a loong time. The informal market isn't too interested in losing cash.

Cards in the US are actually far more advanced and complex than what is available in SA. The reason why it took the US so long to switch to chip is because so many different brand new things had to be developed to and millions of people needed to be retrained to accommodate the market in the US.

how so? most of their banks don't support 3DS

Why is it not good for the man on the street? Cash is a far bigger concern for the man on the street…hence why they only ever carry the smallest amounts and run to ATMs all the time, which is its own attack vector.

Sure…tell that to the entire populace using Venmo and the like because their banking systems suck so much.

It’s the reason companies like PayPal and such even exist because the banks failed them.

The very same Americans who just send their cards off with waiters and are then surprised later when they are defrauded.
