Camcorner recommendation

Looking quickly at Nikon lenses they seem about R1k-R2k cheaper than Orms and SaCamera...

Did a search on google maps, the address points to a house, and their contact numbers are cell numbers.... that always raises red flags for me.

They sell on Bid or Buy too and are the cheapest with their Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR (non VC) in SA, so tempting.

Why not visit them?

I'm in Cape Town.
I've just sent them an e-mail to Philip Klopper:

After signing up with the site I received an e-mail from him (Philip Klopper) welcoming me and an e-mail from sales after putting the Tamron on my wishlist.

I checked too, looks like a house. hope to hear from them in the morning after sending them an e-mail.

Got my lens today and had no problem with them, highly recommended and I paid R1000 cheaper than any dealer here in Cape Town, that incl Orms & Studio 22.
Sweet this is an awesome lens.

Sorry to bump this.

Have anybody else used them after GTi bought his lens there?

They are R2000 cheaper on a camera I am interested in. I can't even get it that cheap from Nikon themselves (I have a contact there). Rumours flying around that they do Grey imports.

Are you looking at the D90?

Bound to be "grey"
If your happy with that see also www.cameraquip.co.za
Bought a tokina lens thru them this month & service & delivery were all A1.
To note about "grey" posted in cameraquips site tho & for that reason why i don't think i would go grey on a body.

All Nikon products have been imported without the approval or license of the registered owner of the Nikon Trademark. No guarantee or warranty in respect of this product will be honored or fulfilled by any official or licensed importer of the registered owner of the Nikon Trademark.

CameraQuip supply a 3 year Mack warranty with all its products as our products are seen as Grey products. All repairs will be done by a Mack approved repair/service center for Mack or CameraQuip’s account and will NOT be covered by the products manufactures guarantee or warranty.

I've always wondered about the Grey stuff. Apart from Nikon not going to honour any type of gaurantee, I can not see anything wrong with it.

It is also not illegal to sell Grey Imports. Wonder if I should take the chance and do it. That way I can easily afford the 35mm F1.8 I also want to get.

Maybe another question might be how good/bad are Mack warranties here if your going to go grey import on a body?.
Just as a recent example on a CPL i was looking into i can get it from a verified US agent including shipping + vat for $220...
the SA agent gives me a price of $490.....some of this local mindset is total nonsense.

I bought a 24-70 Sigma from CameraQuip and there was a problem (online checking seemed to indicate there was a problem with this lens at times, so wasn't the dealer's fault). Lens was picked up from me, repaired and sent back. Only problem was the waiting time, but I see on the website

All repairs will be done by a manufactures approved repair/service center for Mack or CameraQuip’s accoun

So maybe there's an approved service center near you.

I haven't bought from there in a while though, and not sure what's going on with the pricing to be honest.

Another nikon? Shame, thought you were getting serious about photography…

I've bought grey imports from B&H, I guess by the time they got to me they were double-grey? :)

Beginning of this Year I purchased my D600 and D7100 from them. Around R3 000 per camera cheaper than Orms and Studio 22 plus free delivery to CT if over R15 000, they had the Tamron 24 - 70mm f2.8 for R9 800 but I bought it at Studio 22 instead coz Studio 22 offered me a free 82mm UV filter which was R800, their price for the lens was R9879, Paid R9079, Camcorner lens total would have been R9 800 plus R250 delivery charges = R10 050.
