Has anyone used Hahnel camera batteries (rechargeable). If so, your feelings/feedback?

Slow day? :p

BP-511 (Canon rechargeable battery for EOS-20D) = ±R700
HL-511 (Hahnel Replacement for Canon BP-511 battery) = ±R230
I mean what are you using them for? I bought the grip so I wouldnt be tied to that type of battery anymore.

Well, I forfeited my speakers that I was getting with my Airport Express, opting for the battery grip ... so they will go into the BG-E2

Fair enough - I'm getting two dozen 2500ma rechargeable that I can rotate amongst the grip and the flash. I've got 2 of the proprietary ones to use when the grip is off.

I have 12 AAs to rotate then between Grip and flash, plus the two additional 511s, and the original BP-511 in reserve ... HA, and when they are all flat, I'll still have about 2Gb left on the Microdrive :D

Yeah, when I brought my kit in from the US last year March, BH didn't have CFs in stock, but they did have the 8GB IBM Microdrive ... so I decided to put that in my shopping bag :) Very nice ... remaining photo counter is stuck at 999 most of the time :D

What is it? Where does it go? How many should I buy? :)

Have a look here for a discussion on batteries. outdoorhoto I have a large amount of GP rechargeable Ni-MH, they are great but discharge at a rate of +- 2% per day. So you charge them up and in tree weeks you grab them and find they are half power.

The answer is the new generation of Ni-MH that does not discharge over time(OK not not at all but alot less)

They can be had at Incredible Decption for R100 for the Uniross Hybrio 2100mAh. I have the GP 2500mAh(alot of) but would rather have these 2100 as the 2500s becomes alot less than the 2100s after a week or two.

Is that for 1,2, or 4?

EDIT - and thanks for the link - reading it now.

Suddenly really want one of those! Not sure why - I've got 2x 1gb cf cards, the ipod camera connector and of course my macbook . . . . but still want one.

Dont know if the newer ones are better but there where quite a few reports of failures when those first came out. Nothing quite like failure at the end of trip or event and you have nothing to show for all your hard work.

don't be fooled by the camera connector .. tried it in the KNP just after getting my kit ... The Microdrive is too big, ie. the iPod's battery is flat before you can even transder half of the photos :D

I guess my current systems means I'm limited to losing 1gb max at a time. First thing I always do is dump everything into aperture as soon as I can.

works ok 1gb at a time.
