Camera Tape to PC

I have a little Sony DCR-HC32E Video Camera. I just would like to know, if there is a way to record the video from the tape, to the PC so I can burn it to a DVD. I only have a USB cable.
I noticed something about USB Stream. But I cant get that to work.

You can use nero to capture the tape.Switch on your video recorder turn it to play mode the plug in the usb.Open up nero startsmart then select photo and video then select capture video.Should be easy from there just follow the on screen instructions.

My Canon needs a firewire cable, is that not the norm?

I have a canon as well and it does require a firewire connection ,my friend has a panasonic and his uses usb or firewire.So i would say usb is possible but extremely slow as compared to firewire

where can I download the Drivers for this Camera? When I plug the USB, I get Unrecognised device. Please choose the drivers to install.....

Your camera should have shipped with drivers. Failing that, you should be able to get them by searching driverguide.

And USB 2.0. is much faster than Firewire. Assuming the camera connection is 2.0. of course

I worked with a Sony Handycam at my previous job for a task. It had a USB connection. I first had to install all the drivers and applications that came on the cd before I could plug in the camera. After I did that, I could download the tape, as well as rewind fast forward etc...

Ok. But I presume, you will like have to watch the whole tape, while it records. Its not like copying from a memory card.

If I dont manage to do this, I also have a FireWire cable. What is the average price of a FireWire 1394 chip?

Yes, you'll have to run the whole tape to capture it - it's not like a memory stick or HDD camera whereby you can dump the captured image on the PC Hard Drive via USB or Firewire.

Try these USB drivers taken from the driver site for the DCR-HC32E

I think you might also need a video capturing software - try Sony Vegas, Nero or Roxio...

I just discovered that my Dads laptop had a FireWire port .
It work perfectly and no drivers is needed.
Nero works just fine. I'm going to through it on dvd and Edit it with my PC.

I was just about to say use the the firewire (i.Link) port on the camera to transfer the video to the pc.
