Cameras at the World Cup

I'm going to the Portugal v Korea game tomorrow. Taking my DSLR. Will let you all know what happened :)

And how'd it go?
Going to a game on thursday in CT and want to know if they'll give me hassles about taking my camera bag with? D80,18-135mm lens, 70-300mm lens, sb600???

I may be going too. Just waiting to hear if there is still a spare ticket. Camera is packed anyway. Seems like a nice day for the 150-500. :)
 
Took my 500D to the US - Slovenia games on friday. got in with it no problem.

Are you going to the Portugal vs Korea game? Or the Chile Switzerland game in PE?
I just got off work now so packing the camera and dust pumper. Hope to have good seats this game :)

Should have been for todays match but the ticket never materialised.
 
I've got quite a large video camera. A Canon XL H1, I'd love to take it with to a game, but no doubt they'll think I'm part of a news crew or something as it looks like a TV camera.

I've got a smaller professional Sony HVR-A1E, which is also bigger than a consumer video camera, just without the 20X optical zoom the canon has. Maybe it'll be safer if I take that instead.
 
Not going to risk trying to take my 5d Mk II in (the fact that it has HD vid functionality could be a real issue). Sure the security might not know that but do I really want to possibly end up having to leave it somewhere... :( .. kicking myself for not having applied for accreditation...
 
so some a$$$hole comes and tells me that my lens is too long and he's going to confiscate it if I use it again.do I have any grounds on telling him to sod off? anybody willing to email me FIFA saying there's no size limit to the lens?

Just in case anyone was wondering for when/if they go themselves, I had no problem at all. I went in with my 5D Mark II, extra batteries and a few lenses all stuffed in a Tamrac Velocity 10x - no one gave any hesitation or question. Sat there right in the middle of the crowd with my 100-400 and sometimes even a 2X teleconverter added on - no issues at all.

I was using a canon 100-400mm lens. I haven't had any hassles during the last games I've been to so I don't see what's wrong now

I didn't at the time but I measured the lens + body and it JUST about makes it into the 25cm long measurement. I'm going to print out the rules and keep it with me next time so I can tell the guy to *&^% off :D
 
Iv'e taken in my Nikon D80 DSLR with my 18-200mm lens to both dames I've been to (Ellis Park and Loftus) without a problem. Note that my 18-200mm is biggish, had the camera handing around my neck.

No problems, also there are tons of tourists with DSLRs. So be fair someone told me that in PE they didn't allow the guy in with his DSLR with a 'big' lens. Obviously if you walk in with a lens like the the photographers on the sidelines then they'll not let you in.
