Maby they don't actually become citizens. Just get indefinite leave to remain. With ILR you get access to most benefits, especially when your kid is born in the UK. It's only relatively recently that you had to take the test for ILR. But yes, for the last 2 years they would have had to have taken the test to stay, so I don't know what Cameron is on about. Or maybe he is referring to a spouse visa as that currently does not require the test ?

A language requirement is ridiculous for residence.

The root of the problem is the State arrogating to itself the right to dole out other people's money to its fave victim groups. That has to stop. But of course it won't.

What do the British Acts of Parliament say about it? If it specifies English as the official language then that means Cameron is [-]right[/-] correct.

So you can't actually give me an example of where colonialists have adapted to the country they went to voluntarily, took over and forced the natives to adapt to colonial ways, but you are advocating that those who are migrating as a result of war must adapt to the area they are fleeing to because the colonialist created laws they must abide to.

Yes, they are refugees. Once their countries have stabilised they must go back. That is the way it has always been and always will be.

Nothing stops those ex-colonies from reverting to their home languages as their official languages.

How many countries are still ruled by colonial powers today?

Have you started learning Mandarin yet?
