That's also why Macs for example are nice, once you get a Mac, most software a basic user needs comes with it - no need to download shareware and warez and get infected you know

let's take it larger than one user;

How does a company with 20k+ PC's running Windows, go for an entire year or more without viruses bringing down their network due to this "insecure" windows? Hell, why would a company spend so much money on Windows licensing if its so insecure? surely they're losing money by the minute?? And yet hundreds of global enterprises do.

EDIT-Ironic how while typing this my XP just packed up completely out the blue and i had to reboot

They probably load the windows OS image from scratch everytime the PC boots up. Also the users probably have 0 permissions to do anything worthwhile at all.
