Did you not maybe forget the most important part here, like what's your screen's max res that you want to play at? Better yet, just put everything to max and see...

If you have a screen with max res 1024 x 786 then probably maybe, if 1080P (1920x1080) then probably no...

(cool, see you added the screen specs now)

I dont understand why people get 24GB of RAM. I have 8 and I never use it all. Even with multiple games open at the same time. There is no performance increase by adding more (unless I run linux).

I'm sitting on 13.9gb usage in my task manager. I don't even know how it got to be so high but it's nice not to worry about it.

OP, you need another graphics card. There's no way you'll get decent performance from a 550ti. Get yourself a GTX970 or R9 280x depending what you can afford. The rest really seems fine.

Ure running a mac are you not? Macs like Linux use more RAM.

I have wow open, a video playing, about 30-40 browser tabs opens, about 10 other applications...and I am only using 4.3GB of RAM on my windows gaming desktop. I could open several more games and still not use that RAM. The bottleneck is not the RAM. Its the CPU and Disk i/o.

Can I get an R9 280x, will it work with my setup?

No I'm a pc guy. I can show my task manager if you like. I have 6gb at work and find it really chunks down.

Sure I don't see why not. Secondhand they go around r2500.

Oh except your psu might need to be upgraded as well. What do you have?

I dont understand then. Wtf could be using so much of your ram :D

I restarted Chrome and it dropped down to 6.11gb now. Going up though. Maybe there's a mammary .. er.. memory leak in Chrome or something.

Should have spent less on RAM and more on your GFX card :)

I suggest one of these:

http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...rd-includes-3-free-games-amd-golden-tier.html

It's quite cool and uses not that much juice. And on the Price/Performance sweet spot at the moment. Let me know if it's out of budget for you.

So will probably work with your current power supply. Maybe post it so we can check. Brand, Age and Wattage.

If you need a new power supply:

I have a GTX460 (only slightly better than a 550Ti) and Im not in a hurry to get a new card at the moment, I run most DX11 games on high (with tweaks of course), only when I have to start dropping the graphics below high just to get above 50FPS then ill consider getting a new one.

If you want everything at max while aiming for 60+FPS then you will want to get a new card, but if you are happy with the graphics settings and FPS then consider keeping it for a while, hell maybe try OC it a bit.

Your ram usage is wayyyyy too high :0. You should really get it checked out.

I have 12GB at the moment and no need for a Page file.

That will fully depend on your power supply. No idea how much power 24 Gig ram uses...

Graphics card the only thing that can use an upgrade, and maybe the power supply depending on what you have. That i5 holds it's ground very well for the new 2014 games (Far Cry 4 etc).

Great, Thanks for your thoughts!

My PSU is 550W not entirely sure of the make, I got it from Rectron so could be a gigabyte or something.

That price should be good for the GPU, looks really good! Will consider getting one while that price lasts!

Not sure if it's enough power to be honest.

Try entering the details there:

That R9 280x uses a crap load of power.
