Can the War on Terror Be Won?

Sheesh its a crazy world we live in...no trust

Have you heard of PNAC? Its a site created by the big guys directly relating to how they manifest what they want.

Here is a exerpt from the site directly relating to their opinion on leaving Iraq.

Rep. John Murtha is right when he says, “The U.S. cannot accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. It is time to bring them home.? Yet the administration persists. At the American Enterprise Institute, Vice President Dick Cheney responded to Murtha, saying, “A precipitous withdrawal from Iraq would be a victory for the terrorists, an invitation to further violence against free nations, and a terrible blow to the future security of the United States of America.?

And so the official White House policy remains what it was on Veterans Day when President Bush did his best to evoke Winston Churchill: “We will never back down, we will never give in, we will never accept anything less than complete victory.?

Even if victory could somehow be achieved, it would be Pyrrhic given the costs and consequences. Moreover, it would only be a tactical victory at the expense of losing strategic position in the war on terrorism. What the Bush administration refuses to understand is that the U.S. military occupation in Iraq is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Therefore, the strategic imperative is to exit Iraq rather than stay. And although it is counterintuitive, exiting Iraq may be a prerequisite for victory.

Some really incredible stuff on this site. You should YouTube it too if you have time - http://pnac.info/index.php/2005/getting-out-of-iraq-our-strategic-interest/

Eh.......

Meh let today be "looney lefties" day. God knows you need one

:D

Groups like Baarder-Meinhof, Red Brigade, Black September etc, were defeated, and their ideology was defeated, because communism and the Soviet Union collapsed

I must disagree here ... these leftists groups you mentioned like Red Brigade/Baarder-Meinhof and others never had any sort of mass support and once the leaders were arrested they all imploded.

In fact most of them were just a bunch of hot headed confused hippie students who read Mao too much.

On the other hand look at the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka , FARC in Colombia and ETA in Spain ... they are still around today because they have a very significant support even if their ideology is from the 60's.

In the cases above the only solution is to address the legitimate concerns that has driven people to support an armed resistance in the first place.

Look at Northern Ireland ... even the British after their stellar success against the Malaysian Chinese communists could not eradicate the IRA until a political solution was found that addressed the issues.

Guess what ... the IRA ... okay ... Sinn Feinn is now a co-partner in govt (The Deputy Prime Minister was an IRA commander for pete sakes) and all sides have turned in their weapons.
