My long term plan is to work overseas... that is what I am going to do...
I have been indispensable in several places of employ. What they do is this: They figure out what you did, then when they know... they make you document/explain what you do/did and then when they know... ka-bam... retrenchment time...

No, you haven't...otherwise you would still work there.

Why are you paying for everything? It is not the employer's fault that you need more money to live. Employers pay salaries, they do not subsidise lifestyles. All the financial responsibilities cannot rest on the employer alone.

And this is why most employers also feel exactly the same as the bit in your post that I have highlighted....
It is also not an employer's fault that people choose to have children and want to send them to schools where the fees make up a sizeable chunk of their monthly expenses. I always see people using school fees as an excuse for wanting more money...

The worst is when people tell you how lucky you are not to have kids (or have kids yet) :wtf:

It was your decision, live with it.

Exactly. I first built up a career and then got married, bought a house and had kids. And guess what? My wife also works and makes a massive financial contribution.

Now people want the career, house, kids immediately. And then moan when they do not earn enough to maintain this dream lifestyle and blame it on the employer.

/End rant

Thank god someone realised what these "recruitment specialists" are doing.

They always start the ad off "My client is seeking..." then you know whoa skip the BS and look for the money. Ja, another mommy with IE explorer skills trying to be match maker.

Not all of them

I'm working with a recruiter now who has a HR degree and several other qualifications. She is actually pretty good and has found me some nice job prospects, with minimal admin.

I have learnt to filter out the junk.

for the salaries posted in every.single.job ad?

Prices aren't allowed to be discussed in the classifieds so why is it tolerated here?

Everyone on myBB is an extremely high earner, we get it.

In a lot of cases it might be the ideal job for someone but they'd think "oh this hedgehog thinks it's too low so maybe i should hold out for another"

Thank you, I haven't been on this forum for to long and has been trolled from day 1 and given unbelievable flack about being a recruiter. I have to tolerate questioning about the salary, what is in the surrounding area, why do you put what is in the surrounding area.. add the benefits, why you adding the benefits blah blah blah. its a constant. NOTHING that is ever posted in the jobs section is going to be good enough to everyone. If you don't want to apply, then move on because there are people out there earning WAY less than what is advertised, with ALL the requirements.

BTW... In the few weeks I've been on this forum, I've place 3 people from here... ALL at higher salaries than what they were earning, ALL in better working environments with benefits. They were very happy with the services I provided, even though I'm a Mom, who uses pnet, Linked In and how dare I.. Facebook.

What about the seniors that chime in that the salary is too low for them (i.e the senior) when it's a junior position being advertised. Do you find that has any relevance? :whistling:

No relevance what so ever, in fact I've had junior candidates apply on lower salaries asking for 15k a month raises because of Snr's saying the salary is low... if you earn 10k and are only worth 12k (to the client) don't expect 15k...

I actually meant the senior saying the junior salary is too low for the senior himself not for the junior (spoiler : i'm referring to your other thread) but I get what you're saying here too.

My opinion: if you are not interested in applying for the post advertised, stay out of that thread.

Ahhh, i'm with you.... ;)

If you not going to apply then there is no point in your response on the salary, its trolling 101.... my internal response is quite simple /ignore...

If the salary was completely outside of what is considered the norm, I wouldn't post it in the first place..

You still on about this?

Koosi posted that the salary is too low and I replied to him saying I think it is fine for the experience they need. Totally relevant to the thread and his post.

Yeah so I added a throwaway comment that it would be too low for me. So sue me.

Tell your wife to get a job............

Err...point wasn't about how much you could earn as a household etc...point was that the value of money has depreciated like crazy, and so to a certain extent you can understand why people are aiming for higher salaries. Whether it is feasible or not depends on the companies budget.

Perhaps, but the way that people are asking for more money is the wrong way. Your personal responsibilities have no bearing on whether an employer should pay you more or not.

If you have the skills and if you can market yourself well, then you shouldn't be having any issues. You can always negotiate a better price no matter what they offer. Obviously it would help if people got their priorities right in the first place, and don't live a lifestyle that puts them on the brink...

Recruiters are not posting on this site to help candidates they do so to earn commission out of the deal and send x amount of candidate CVs to the recruiters because that is what their client wants.

You have to see it from our point of view.
Many recruiter post fake generic ads to build up a database and harvest employers contact details from candidate contact history. These "moms" want to work from home but need many clients first so thats the reason they spam the forum and justifiable get abuse.
Look at how gumtree gets spammed by these generic ads causing candidates to just stop applying.
You should be grateful we chase away the bad recruiters on mybb since you probably have had more quality responses here for your ads compared to gumtree because of our quality control or what your call abuse. Once you realize you have benefited from what we are doing and not take it personally I think you will have a much better relationship with members. You participating in the forum also helps and will make people trust you more. End result both parties benefit.

Everyone is expendable. I've known insanely talented developers that left companies without warning and guess what? *drum-roll*...Nothing.

The business will find a way to go on without them.
