Canada's New Automatic Headlight Rules Combat 'Phantom Vehicles'

I'm wiring the car so they're on permanently.

I'm adding one of those in always on config above the towbar.

I just leave my lights always on. When I start the vehicle it is on. When I remove my keys the lights are off.

Now about the fog lights.....
My car is weird. The inside lights only come on when I open a door. So at night I have to drive with one door open or else I can't see what the hell is happening inside.

So many things wrong/ironic with your comment:
1. You know there is an On/Off/Auto switch for the interior light?
2. Hollywood movies and TV always have the interior lit up so you can see the actors faces.

Also, the dashboard won't light up until the headlights are turned on.
All the newer Volkswagens with analogue gauges do this - if your lights are off, there's no illumination on the instrument panel. Park lights on - only the needles are illuminated, not the numbers as well. Lights on, full illumination.

What kak.

Why the need for auto sensing headlights when the simple and cheap solution is like motorbikes, when you turn the ignition the light is on.
I don't understand? When you turn on the ignition the daytime running LED's come on. They're not for night time driving? So you need the headlights to come on automatically otherwise you're driving around with daytime LED's only in the dark.

Because then they make kak in daylight and are a danger to the very motorcycles you mentioned.

Or other weather patterns like mist/fog where bright lights aren’t a great idea.

Also good luck jump starting a car with lights forced on, especially a push start, not that those really work much any more.

But I was actually under the impression Canada has mandated that for many years exactly as you described, but maybe it’s rather than some manufacturers just volunteered.

Could also relate to the idiots that use DRL’s in the dark, so now they’ve forced them to switch over over, because that’s a whole problem of it’s own.

Except nothing on in the rear, and then you get people driving with the DRLs on at night cause it gives enough light and they think their headlights are on.

And don’t realise their rear light are off and their car is invisible.

I drove off on numerous occasions in my Fiesta forgetting to turn the headlights on due to how bright the DRLs were and that the dash was always lit up. I was actually talking about this with my partner last night about how silly it is that the dashboard is always lit up in cars without auto lights.
