Starting in September 2021, all new vehicles sold in Canada need to have headlights, taillights, and side lights that automatically turn on in the dark. Also, the dashboard won't light up until the headlights are turned on.

It's a safety issue, says Transport Canada, which announced the rules changes were coming two years ago.

With more lights on, cars won't look like "phantom vehicles."

The new rules apply not just to cars, trucks, and SUVs but also motorcycles and heavy trucks.

What kak.

Why the need for auto sensing headlights when the simple and cheap solution is like motorbikes, when you turn the ignition the light is on.
Rear lights on during the day are a bit of an issue in certain conditions. For me anyway.

I would be happy if they disabled the rear fog light that some people don't even realised that they turned on

Most new cars have running lights that are always on.

Or if they could just get rid of them completely. I never see anyone using them in bad weather but for some reason when the skies have no clouds then everyone all of sudden decides to use them. So annoying

That too. Canadians seem to be looking for a solution to a problem that's already been solved

I don’t think it has been solved, people drive at night with their DRLs on, problem is the rear lights are still off causing a hazard.

But Canada has now fully solved it by doing this. So I think this is a good move. Only problem is it’s gonna make new cars even more expensive now.

How can normal rear lights cause a problem in day time, when they are rather weak?

Only cars that should have their rear lights on full time :
*Bmw 7 series
*Porsche 911/cayenne/macan and taycan
*Audi A8/Q8
*Haval H6

Coz those rear light bars are cool as f^ck.
