Cancel Mweb for Telkom new pricing

In my experience, the more people sign up with "Bargain ISP's", the more people complain about service received.

I'd hardly call Telkom a "Bargain ISP." Up until a few days ago, they were anything but that, and, no one really knows how the service is going to perform yet, so maybe give it a month or 2 and lets see what people that are actually using it have to say.

Does anyone use Telkom Do Broadband account? Can you give us some info on how it performs?

Downloads and gaming?

I wonder what the performance would be like on Telkom vs MWEB, especially since I know Telkom's port shaping SUCKS

I have the 4mbps uncapped account and download at about +/- 415/kbps. Gaming also no problem. I had issues with Telkom in the beginning, but things are actually pretty rock steady now in terms of connection up time etc.

Quite interesting to see people hurrying and scurrying from the one ISP to the other ISP. :D
Money is money. Plus mweb insists on a debit order and getting reimbursed for that is a schlep.

I'd wait till the product is out and has been abused for a couple of months before jumping ship. Believe me, I speak from experience.

Yep, I have Do Premium (the 4 meg one). I also have MWEB 1 meg account and I mostly use my MWEB account now because there was just times that Telkom slowed down really badly. I mean things downloaded quicker on MWEB uncapped than Telkom Capped and MWEB is supposed to be a quarter of the speed. That said, when it worked properly it worked well. I don't know how their uncapped offerings are though.

As it stands I've got the whole of February during which time there should be an indication on how the network is holding up.

Now for us to get email address portability...let me take my iTunes linked MWEB (stupid, i know) email address with me to any ISP. Lol

There is a way to retain the MWEB email address, which is handy especially for grandfathered accounts.

I think email hosting is R40-50 pm. It's not listed though.

Well the way TELKOM has been acting up lately I'd wait a little. Was on TELKOM (very happy) then moved to MWEB (very happy) went back to TELKOM and the quality of the bandwidth is far worse off now a year on. Not sure what is going on it's not the quality it once was. So much for getting my bandwidth it from the "horses mouth" so to speak. I can only see it getting worse with people jumping ship with new offerings.

Potential

These dudes ( ALL ISP's ) only upgrade their backbone infrastructure when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary
( when 30% of their subscribers are jumping ship )
Telkom have the POTENTIAL to be a World class player ( but then -- IF -- you pass matric with 30% pass mark you also have the potential to become a Gov minister  )

I strongly beleive that Telkom have some awesome infrastructure and they are trying to make it work for them.

Let us see what happens :D
