Cancelled Axxess

Good read rogue. I myself recently moved over to Openweb since I was unable to even game most evenings due to latency issues. Since moving I havnt had a single issue. You know your internet is good when you dont do a speedtest every hour!!

I think my tipping point was when I wasn't able to load speedtest.net :P

I have had the same issues with my Axxess account! 10meg uncapped and now with the management system its been absolutely terrible! I also kept hanging and hanging on because previously I have been have for a good time with Axxess always recommending them but it has become just too much every time I complain now about the speeds I get a "template" response about how the accounts get managed I pleaded again about this and was told nothing they can do as its automated so unfortunately I have had to cancel my account as well.

I actually feel for people who give places the benefit of the doubt and try to weather the storm. It might be harsh to say but I jumped ship early to openweb and haven't looked back since. It's nice to know that you don't have to worry about usage on an uncapped account.

People need to vote with their wallet, and take business away so that AH can realize the gravity of their mistake. Holding on to a sinking ship doesn't help you... They've been full of empty promises and stats. They say since the move to MTN usage has basically doubled over their IS days, I say prove it, because I call BS

Dear Axxes: As a developer I find it very very very very hard to believe that there is no manual override to your shaping/throttling system.
Skynet much?

nah.. why would they want to override? Then they'll have to do it for everyone... so it's easier to piss of a few. (They make money on those that don't download....)

The Axxess guy I spoke to swore blind that there was no way to override it other than for a few hours. Oh well:(

They probably don't have at the support level.. maybe higher? But yes.. very sad to see that Axxess/Afri went this way.

Holy shytesticles, Axxess in their good graces have seen it fit to bless me with 120Kb/s today. I will sacrifice a KFC tomato sauce packet in their honour.

Well, there goes Axxess off my list of recommended ISPs...

Looks like WebAfrica was right...unsustainable for some ISPs by the looks of things. Even MWEB seems to be suffering a little bit. My recommendation would be Openweb Gold Uncapped if you are looking for no nonsense. I was very pleased with them when I trialed for 2MB for the month of November.

I don't know, mweb have always given good download speeds and I have never been throttled. I used to download about 190GB a month a year ago, now averaging 80GB.

I left them too, line and all.

After testing them for 3 months more than a year ago, I joined - and I recommended every soul who would listen.

Now I have to eat my words. Sad for all involved.

To Openweb? Seems that's the progression. Works for me :)

Hey guys! Also with Axxess for years, and decided to go with openweb.

I have a 10 meg link to the dslam (actual), and before the whole axxess and afrihost switch to the useless MTN network, this was actually great. I did my fair share of downloading on uncapped line (as it should be), and averaged around 150 gigs per month. No problems there. Then after all the outages during the switching over to MTN I got irritated, but when they started introducing the management plans, I lost it! It felt like I was perm managed. What pee-ed me off the most was that I got placed on managed state on the 30th of the month! Then guess what, I got billed (money off my account), and my account was reset to unmanaged only 7 days later! (ie, pay and experience crap internet for another 7 days) :(

I switched over to openweb gold, and so far it's looking good. I have the odd disconnect, but seems ok. I'm not singing praises to any ISP anymore, as things change so quickly!

Only read this now....
Does it really matter if the traffic doubled or increased tenfold?

The nature of their business is such that it will increase with new sign ups and also when uncapped clients use more.

So I think the problem comes in at the profit margin and perhaps a little greed

I just thought I'd say my own personal experience with Axxess matches that of the OP roguemat, though have spent many more months with Axxess switching between ISPs pretty often trying to compare and find a good one. Axxess has always had an inconsistent level of satisfaction though after becoming owned by Afrihost it became noticeably worse.

I would like to add something that seemed really low by Axxess, after canceling the previous account it become noticeably worse from the very next day onwards. There were no known network problems at this time and other's on Axxess were not experiencing this sudden, dramatic and constant drop in service quality from Axxess. The only conclusion I reached was that once cancelling the account they basically gave us the finger and throttled the account into oblivion on any traffic that wasn't local.

So I can't stress enough how dirty the Axxess experience was ontop of unsatisfactory and inconsistent. I would not recommend trying their uncapped accounts unless you have tried everyone else first.

Hi Guys, new here, but i'd like to give my 2c. I'm reselling with axxess, and ALL my clients are on uncapped accounts. Although you get different uncapped accounts from them, (different suppliers, i.e. SAIX, IS, etc) its quite worrying. I tend to think its the same as some new sattelite providers, (huge amount of data available / uncapped). Two different price structures, pay for the "bussiness" package or "express" or "fibre" packages, and actually just gets placed into a defferent FUP group with different shaping policies. In short, pay through your ears, and get a better service.
