Cancelled my dstv today

Is toptv cheap ? Yes.
And dstv ? So much more. :)

You'll lose Rugby and some/most Cricket, Olympic Games, otherwise TopTV is really great, especially if you like good documentaries, Movies are also not bad. I've gone for the basic + Science Documentatries which includes their great music channels as well.
 
I used to have DSTV, there was NOTHING to watch.

Then I got Top TV. Now I am not saying it's great new content, but it does have plenty of repeats of my old favourites and the baby tv channel for the little one, and the awesome music channel (Kerrang). Which makes it 100x better than DSTV.

When the Rugby world cup was on I just got my Bro's Supersport login and streamed the non SABC games on the laptop plugged into the TV. The alternative was other streaming services (free with a quick myadsl forum search) but I did prefer the supersport streams.

For the same price I would take Top TV over DSTV anyday.


Top TV also does not have ads during series.

Guess what... the ****ing lamebrain who took my call did not actually cancel my service.
Nor did he tell me that he was not allowed to cancel my decoder care contract.
So far, I've been on the phone another 30 minutes sorting this **** out and I haven't even got to the DCC yet.

Ineptitude of the highest order.

15 minutes on hold for DCC and I gave up. Doing this by email now *sigh*

Is there no SMS or email confirmation they can send you? Why with so much of money can't they invest in customer feedback systems--instantly.

Only got around to getting my Top TV installed yesterday. Phoned DSTV Care on their P.E. number this morning and got my contracts downgraded in less than 10mins, I was monitoring my account online via "Connect and Disconnect Services - My Account" and can confirm it was done properly.

I now have R162 credit on my account (8 mths free EasyView) :)

I've got Toptv for entertainment and Drifta for sports. This is the other way to save from paying DSTV premium package.
 
Haha and those incompetent 530d's sent me an invoice (by email) yesterday for R1400...

Unbelievable.
