Cancelled my iBurst today

just more good reasons to leave iburst!!

Now that looks like a company thats breaking the "sa tradition" of ripping off the public and getting ahead, if I could I'd sign up with them today and just write off my iBurst account, but I guess they won't be covering Cape Town anytime soon.:(

Sounds to me like someone always posts in iBurst's favour, makes me think maybe he is part of iBurst.

Lol, I wish I worked for them, then I wouldn't have to pay such exorbitent amounts for bandwidth :D

You really wish to work for a company that rips off it's customers?......keeping to the sa tradition.

I think it's great to see a company in this country trying to give customers what they should have, but going by past experience they will have a hard time if they try to break the tradition.

In the ISP game how do you differentiate a company that rips it's customers off vs. a company that doesn't want to go under?

At the rate iBurst are going they WILL go under as more and more people see just how they are been ripped off.
Anyone can see they are in trouble,......non qualified accounts dept.......useless helpdesk....... lack of positive incentives for the customer.....etc...etc.

Trying to take your competition "down" by crying to the gov and controlling bodies, that must be the lowest most desperate way of trying to get rid of competition.

And to top it their contracts that "trap" unsuspecting customers into getting locked up with the company.

Seeing the amount of people indicating that they are going to leave iBurst due to there lack of interest in adjusting packages according to the rest of the market and staying stagnant at 2005 prices, wonder if they will have any business left soon.. That 50 million they plan on spending on towers etc might just be a waste.

Come on iBurst address the issue!

I will be cancelling within the next 2 months if this is not addressed and heading back to another wireless ISP which is now cheaper and provides a larger cap....

But be careful. According to iBurst that ISP is a rouge out to steal your money and offer you bad service... :D

Consequences

As ye sow, so shall ye reap!

iBurst, never has a truer word been written.

Ye shall rue the marketing decisions taken without due thought of the consequences.

I would like to thank Carlos at iBurst for his reply to my e-mail regarding my cancellation, and also taking the time to explain outstandings issues to me.

This was all I needed from iBurst to do but it seems that the person or persons who was suppose to do it, thought that it was too much of a burden to do so.

Thanks Carlos for your quick reply.

HI XXXXXX

I will make sure that this is attended to today still by our retentions executives and i will send a copy onto Phil, the retentions manager.

The Northcliff area has unfortunately been delayed due to us still awaiting permissions from the landlords for site erection, thereafter only can we apply to the municipalities and the EPA for approvals. We have definetely identified a couple of areas where base stations would need to be in order to alleviate the loads but have been hampered in this regard by this human element.

In terms of the extra bandwidth allocation, we have opted to launch at this stage only to contract subscribers as one of the benefits of being on contract. However, we have also introduced bandwidth rollover, which is a first in SA and is available to all package types. (consider cellular; the benefits of prepaid and contract - on contract you also have far more benefits). However we have received a few concerns from our month to month subscribers and have relayed these onto our product development team for their review.

Please let me know if you do not get a response by the end of the day and I will chase up for you.

Kind Regards

Carlos

Since everybody here is canceling their iburst...my question is: are you using month 2 month or are you guys on contract?

Both since a lot of us are getting to the end of our contracts, I'll probably keep mine for awhile even after I get ADSL just to see how things turn out with iBurst.
I'd prefer to keep iBurst since it is mobile and I was in the process of fitting out my minibus when this latest nonsense started.

I'm on a month-to-month.

Seeing that I was with sentech before on a contract, everthing went well for the first 4 months. Then Sentech decided to fiddle with their towers and that put me from an excellent signal down to nearly non-existant signal, and I have still to pay for a poor service. After lots of e-mails and technicians trying to solve the problem, Sentech cancel the contract from their side.

There and then I have decided never again to take a contract if possible on this kind of services.

I am month-to-month as well, but it seems I will be in with them for another month. Their call centre advised it will be fine to cancel on the 7th of the month with effective date end of that same month. Alas I have just now been notified that this is contradictory to what is in the terms and conditions, which covers all matter of sins lol. So I guess I am stuck with this iBurst crappy service till end April... Anyone wanna buy this one more month, or take over the contract?, along with a UTD modem (2 months old) and an external antenna? All in very good condition as it seldom worked?

iBurst will never see my ass again...

Wow this stuff they churn out is irritating.

The reason you have more benefits on Cellular contracts is well.. because you are on a contract as opposed to being just a SIM card owner who might not even be using the SIM anymore. Some pre-paid cellphone users might only buy R10 airtime a month to go on Mxit with, or nothing at all. That is why a contract is so much more beneficial to cellular operators.

With iBurst both m2m and contract users have to pay their R599 or whatever every month. The only difference is the 24 months of being stuck in the contract, not the same as cellular providers at all.

Okay so the real irritating part is that they relayed it to their product development team, who I am assuming have been legally dead for the last two years? They couldn't possibly have a team of people sitting around in a office for product development right??

Cellular providers have you on contract to cover your phone, ounce your contract is over you are on month to month untill you upgrade and get a new phone.

iBurst has you on contract for 24 months at a higher rate to cover modem, ounce your contract is finished you are on month to month at the lower rate.

There is no incentive to resign a contract with iburst after you modem is paid for in the 24 month contract..

This is a big hole if iBurst intend to keep customers for longer than 24 months.
Who needs a second iBurst modem? The technology hasn't change to even require a new modem.

As for the fact that they treat month 2 month contract holders with discrimination, is one of the reasons people are cancelling.

I will be cancelling when and if ADSL is available in my area

Orderesd my dsl today

So i ordered my ADSL today.

I'm going to cancel iBurst m2m account as soon as my dsl is installed. This '24 month contract' stunt was the last straw. Add to that the fact that i've had problems signing in the last two weeks.

Also, the 1 gig cap thing was very limiting to me.

Cheers iBurst, the last few months have been good, but now its over.
