Cancelled orders due to incorrect price - discuss here

"We" ?

The OP is generic, no mention of Makro, Loot or any other company.
 
While the Makro incident caused a derail in the bargains thread prompting the creation of this thread, I created this with the intention that it can be used for all future incidents and is not exclusive to the current Makro issue.

Is this the current Makro issue where they advertised the Harman Kardon amp for R1500 odd when in reality it retails for over R12k?

The biggest issue I have is that other Bluetooth speakers were selling for same price - so the excuse they have that I should have known this is an error is not acceptable.

With regards to the amp, I doubt anything in same category for same price.

If you are searching for a product and the average price of a product (brand + model) is significantly more expensive at other retailers then it is safe to say that it is an error.

Additionally, was it an opportunistic purchase i.e. prompted by suspiciously low price?


Ordinary man test aside, if retailers are using such strategies for false traffic, then they should also be taken to account. Even in this case I doubt they would be forced to sell at advertised price but rather correct pricing/advertising and/or ASA fine.

I doubt this was deliberate. It was clearly an error with prices across their range all mixed up. The R6k Energizer power bank is an example of a price that was clearly ridiculously high, just as some others were ridiculously low

Sorry, I was kind of expecting some make and model numbers, and a price.
 
Cannot see my order on the makro website so obviously they have cancelled the order, but received no email ! What to do next ?

You ordered an incorrectly priced item that was cancelled. Your options:

(A) Get a lawyer and seek legal advise, and attempt to take the matter further.
(B) Buy item that you intended at cheapest price you can find.

Take your pick.

According to cpa makro should have corrected the item price immediately. On Sunday night the product was out of stock - but conveniently Monday morning back in stock which shows they had to update their systems....it also took them 2 days to remove certain products.

The product has been removed from their website completely - again according to cpa they must show what the correct price is according to them. This has not been done.

Don't know how their system works with respect to 3rd party suppliers - might be the 3rd party loading stock counts/products.

So when they saw on Monday morning that all stock has been sold out a the low advertised price, they decided to open it up again not knowing what they were doing.

I find that hard to believe.
