Im currently on a Business Topup R 315 and my contract expires in Feruary. But with all the cheap adsl offerings happening i want to know what it would take to have this contract cancelled? Penalties? How badly could I get screwed?

Just asking for for some opinions to those who have cancelled a contract with them before. :)

Badly! :) It's not long to go, probably best just to ride it out.

Not sure about other SP's....but VSP generally follow the rule of subsribtions x how many months left till contracts end. With no addtitional VAS services, a Top Up 315 should go as follows:

315 x 3 = R945.00

Remember, your upgrade date is not the same as your term date. Upgrade date is when we can give you a new phone and extend the term date for 24 months. Your Upgrade date is 3 months before your term date.

PS: If you are feeling unsure, then contact customer care on 082111 and request a cancelation quote. This will break down the cost structure to see what they are charging you to cancel and why.

So you're going to end up paying full price and not getting the benefit of the service, may as well just make use of it then.

I think this depends on how many consecutive contracts you've upgraded early; if you've upgraded three contracts in a row, you'll still have nine months left before term date. MTN definitely work this way.

@oc: I didn't see you at the broadband conference!

Oh dear, my contract ends in May and upgrade date is February. Thanks for clearing that up for me though.

ps. In my defence, im staying with VC just want to get adsl instead of having to spend so much on data. :)

How much data do you plan on using in a month once you have ADSL?

Could you not downgrade to the cheapest contract with less penalties?

He is looking at the screamer uncapped option.

Ill try giving customer care a call. But you know how my days are W1z. Can't even take a pee without it being an issue.

I just like the thought of being able to do things on the net without having to dial *111# every hour or so. ;)

I was thinking of going...but I am shy and also, not sure I would have understood what they talked about. Did not want to walk out of there feeling dazed. I think I should make a concious effort to go next year. Expand my knowledge a bit and learn. Is there free food though? hehe.

During the sessions - towards the front on the left hand side, otherwise - on the desk admiring the thunderstorm. Did you make it there?

Definitely! See the Conference Presentations for some of what you missed, especially the intro video, it was excellent.
Is there free food though? hehe.
Yup, free lunch and drinks afterwards.
Stop jacking my thread. :p
My apologies as well.
Could anyone attend this freebie food fest?

Na im yanking your chain. I got my answer ever so politely. Im just grumpy because I missed out on free munchies. :o

Most Vodacom employees i get to work with impress me each time to be honest.

I logged a call on the website yesterday afternoon, and received a call from a very kind lady who queried what exaclty it is that im needing to know. I explained everything to her and now im awaiting my email. (I hope she remembers to email me. :) )

Now that's why im looking to stay with them. ;)

ok my sucking up is done now... :p

You must cancel your contract - even if it is expiring with one calendar month. I just got caught out, nad now have to pay an extra month of ridiculously high subscription.

I cannot wait to say goodbye to Vodacom and Mweb

Can't see what you issue is here? You signed the 2 year contract, did you not pay any attention to the costs? Besides the fact that it would have been in the contract it's pretty much common knowledge that your contract will switch to month-month after 2 years.
