So, looking to save R200 each month for a voice line that we will no longer use as per Telkom's announcement.

Anyone know how to cancel it?

I cancelled from the Telkom website after logging in.. first time ISP took a while to release the ADSL line.. tried again later and cancellation was successful a few days later..

Done and dusted. Now pray that they cancel only the phone and not the adsl.

Done bro, thank you.
I just needed to dig a bit deeper on the website.

Yeah, it's not the easiest thing to find.. wanted to check the steps for you earlier but, when I logged in, it asked me to link products to my account...

Can you cancel the voice line if you are on the 10mb/s UnlimittedHome ADSL package for R849?

As far as I know, there are no details around the unbundling of voice lines from ADSL, so you guys cancelling for that, may or may not have luck with that..

I cancelled cause I got fibre..

What are the exact steps to cancel the voice line only? I would like to keep my internet going but just save the R210. Maybe pay for more speed.

WAslayer points to the first step - go to telkom online portal (if it serves you, otherwise skip the rest of this)

Manage your account line, and cancel a service related to your account number.
You will arrive at a page that prompts such service you wish to cancel.

For me, I had two services that looked practically identical:

home_ phonenumber
And
home_ phonenumber_1

One of them has BB in the front and the other has FIXV in the front too.

FIXV = fixed voice
BB = broadband

I ticked, and cancelled FV.

Isn't voice and ADSL using the same line? When our voice line goes dead ADSL is out as well.

You're canceling part of the service, not the line itself.

It's like ordering from a waiter a veg burger and milkshake, but cancel the milkshake

You don't cancel the waiter and still get what you want: delicious veg burger.

Thanks Razer0, I found the page. I have two services listed, One is the R210 line and the other is my speed. I get my data from an ISP. Did you have the same thing, because on the R210 service it says voice line and bb.

It says both voice as well as BB on one line?
Mine were separate yet clearly distinguishable.

One sec

I navigated to the cancellation page and now I get the same result as you. I was on the services page before. Thank you for the help.

Not taking any chances myself - working from home.

Anyone with only the voice line on Telkom tried cancelling? ADSL line and data with different ISP. Will the ADSL still work?

Everyone waiting for Someone to take the plunge, I'll wait until after lockdown to try it

I spoke to a Telkom representative regarding the voice line ( just to be 100% sure) and was told that I can cancel my voice line and keep using my DSL.

I put in a cancellation order and 2 days later they sent me an sms saying that my fault reference has been closed.

The line is still active and I have no idea if i should try again.
