@V3G google.com works and that ip 209.85.135.99 is california

Snap, if I open google.com I get redirected to google.co.za - sure you're not getting that?

Though google.com does ping successfully. Strange.

Sounds suspiciously like something on the routing beyond our gateways, we don't route per domain, just a default route to our friendly bandwidth provider....

But let's hear what the engineers say.

On a plain 3G connection (i.e. no VPN) I can see bbc.co.uk but not cnn.com. My Firefox just says waiting for cnn.com and then no data comes thru. It seems to be sites in the USA? E.g. www.byterunner.com in the US also does the same as when I try www.cnn.com.

Our company website in Germany loads fine, so does amazon.co.uk
www.google.co.jp (JAPAN) also loads fine

EDIT: Using the VPN I can confirm that everthing is fine on SAIX ADSL.

First time I pinged google.com, it pinged 72.14.221.99, a few minutes ago. google.co.za also resolved to the same address range.

Now's google.com is resolving to 66.102.9.99......and still responds....so does google.co.za, also now on 66.102.9.104

So they somehow redirected?

They're mostly 504 errors and I've been trying to access USA based sites on a range of server locations.

Just tested bbc.com - incomplete download.
USA sites still dowwwn!

A friend of mine on ADSL confirms that his international is fine. Maybe Telkom reserves special hell for people not on ADSL . . .

1 day and no-one notices?

To be honest, I had the same early this morning, but after 30 minutes it came back...only tonight when I connect via GPRS again, did it not come back (at 20:30).

It is now heading toward 2 hours and still no resolution, except for a techie
attending to the problem - RESET THE ROUTERS MATE!

My problem is that I use GPRS/HSDPA for remote support, meaning I am not relying on a fixed line, and am currently not in the ideal situation if this is the type of service I receive for the monies I pay every month. Common VC, Telscum - get it right for a change. You have clients paying for this!

I have VPN access over an ADSL line, and through that it works fine, but not otherwise.

Maybe this is a good excuse to get an early night - looks like its going to be a little longer than 15 minutes!

Yep me too, no international ... major PIA. Funny that Google.com responds but all else is dead.
