Hi
I have a desktop that connects easily, I bought a laptop, both XP and it says my username/password is incorrect. Spent 45 minutes on phone to Telkom, no luck, they say it has something to do with firewall on laptop. They changed my password and the desktop connects everytime, set up a few new connections, all fail on laptop.

Some ISP's dont allow multiple logins for DSL on specific packages. Are you trying to connect with the laptop while the desktop is connected? If so, do you have multiple logins on your DSL ISP package?

If so and you still cannot get it connected:

1. Disable firewall on the laptop.
2. Setup the PPPoE connection
3. Check username and password
4. Try to connect
5. If this fails
6. Check that SP2's windows firewall is also disabled ( I doubt this would be a problem though)
7. Check the network adapter of the laptop by trying to connect to your home network or work network.
8. If the network adapter does indeed function and you still cannot connect, try downloading RASPPPoE and using that to connect instead of the windows PPPoE interface.

If it still refuses, please post again with your results and more detail on your setup. The network, the DSL router and so forth...

Cheers
