Cannot tether with HTC Desire using the "Internet Sharing" option with USB

This is so f*&king annoying.

My Sony Ericsson W910 could effortlessly connect to the internet through USB and my 6 thousand rand smart phone can't?

I've installed HTC Sync, uninstalled it, downloaded the latest one and still no luck. (I've also reinstalled Windows 7)

When I select "Internet Sharing" HTC Sync does not show the device as connected.

After 2 minutes the devices mode changes from "Internet Sharing" to "Disk Drive"

I can only hope this will be fixed with froyo, then again I'm not sure if it's Android or Windows 7.

I have a ish pc and works better than my ericsson. Try it on another pc, to see where the problem is

As much as I disagree with the sentiment of this statement, in this instance I tend to agree. The "Internet Sharing" options works just fine for me using Kubuntu.

Mine tethers to windows 7, but I would think that it is windows that is at fault in your case. Tethering on XP takes me about 5 seconds, whereas in windows 7 it takes about 30. Guess there's something in windows 7 that doesnt like the phone.
