Canon 550d or 1100d

Been looking around and have finally decided to get a new camera (noob DSLR user here)

I've got my mind on the Canon 1100d (Canon EOS 1100D DSLR with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens Starter Bundle)

I saw a comparison between that one and the 550d with the 550d being the cleaner winner. (It should be - its more expensive) :)

My question is for a noob is it worth spending the extra R1600 or so to get the 550d (Canon EOS 550D DSLR with EF-S 18-55mm IS Lens Starter Bundle)

I'm going to be using the camera for general pic taking - nothing too fancy yet.

Your thoughts?

Yes.

It's worth spending even a little more and getting the 600D if you can.

The 600D with 18-55mm lens is only R500 more than the 550D with 18-55mm lens at ORMS Direct and the 600D has a few key features such as a wireless flash controller which allows off-body flashes to be used without needing any extra hardware.

The jump in specs from the 1100D to 550D is large.

Got the 7D and I'm loving it (had the 450D previously).

I dont think you'll regret spending the extra R400. :)
