Hi
I've been having this problem on and off, since about 3 or 4 months after buying the camera at Paarl Game. Though the first time it happened, I got the error "code 01, lens is not making contact with the body, please clean the contact points". I took the lens off, using a soft cloth I rubbed the contact points, reAttached the lens and it seemingly worked.
So fast forward another couple of months (the camera is almost a year old by then) and the problem resurfaces with a vengeance, but the cleaning thing, and popping on the smaller lens and then popping on the zoom lens again, seems to solve this. Then a couple of months later same thing happened as I wanted to take pictures at a concert. After cleaning the contacts, it worked, but I also had to swop out the lenses for it to "reset". The last time was two or so months ago, and just last week I wanted to take pictures of the Venus Jupiter pairing, same error code, nothing would work. No amount of brushing or wiping or swopping out lenses worked. Eventually I took out the battery, took off the lenses and stored the camera with the intent to take it back to Game (it's still under 2 year warranty and I have extended warranty.)
Monday evening I thought to give it another go, and all of a sudden it works like a charm.
Now here is the thing, I've only used the camera a couple of times since I bought it, in fact I would estimate this issue cropped up around 30% of the times I used it. I store the camera in a safe way, battery removed etc. And it has never, ever been in the rain, exposed to the elements or even had so much as a drop of water on the body.
What could be causing this? I estimate I've used the camera around 20 times, since I bought it a year and a half (more or less) ago.
