Canon EOS 1100D

Okay that 550D triple lens set is bloody tempting indeed. I'll phone and find out to make sure the lenses are IS ones and not DC. The 550D body is expensive as is, so I'm skeptical on which stock lenses it comes with.

What the hell is this DC your talking about? :-)

The triple bundle is a Canon 18-55 IS, Canon 55-250 IS and a Canon 50 f2.5 prime (obviously without IS). I didn't know Canon made a 50 f2.5, may be a typo that should read f1.8.

Website now says out of stock - could be for online only though.

The two zoom lenses are IS.

Yeah it's a F1.8, according to the pic.

Well I'll phone Dion tomorrow and find out if it's out of stock or just an online deal.

Otherwise perhaps I should consider another 550d bundle, would be happy with just a 15-55 lens for starters since the 550D clearly is a far better animal than the 1100D and the Nikon D3100.

No question, get the 600D.

Do you have it yet?

600D ... flip screen and wireless flash trigger is a rather nice feature.

Actually I've owned a 450D (and now a rather pos A230) but my friend has a 550D and to be honest the biggest improvement I've seen over the past 2-3 years is the power of the onboard flash and the processing power of the onboard flash meter. Set it on auto (the dreaded groen blokkie) and be astounded by the awesome pictures it takes in the dark. For portraiture an external flash is obviously still king though.

Might have it tomorrow morning! Perfect timing since the wife and I are heading off to the Natal Midlands soon!

You went from 4800 to 6998! Remind me never to ask for purchasing advice on the forum. But enjoy the camera! I also recently got my first dSLR and I've been snapping away non stop
