Im looking for some new glass.

Equipment is canon 60d with 17 85mm this lens has been dropped and fails to focua properly. Also fails in video mode.

Types of photography
Children and people
Landacapes and architecture.

Lens ideas so far
10 to 18mm for the landscapes.
40mm or 50mm or 60mm primes for potraits (which is the best)
18 55mm stock lens for general photos

Do these seem good?

What sort of budget do you have?

If you're looking to do video with the 18-55 make sure you get the newer STM version.

If you're looking at all of those, have you considered the new 24-105 F/4 L ii? I spoke to my local dealer this morning, it should be at the shops come month end.

Buy a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 if the 1.4 is too $ for you.

That will take care of portrait and street photography.
Then look at a 20mm if you want to do landscape.

I mostly use my primes, rarely use a zoom lens.

50mm on a 1.6 crop is long for street photography! The 24mm f2.8 is a much better walk-around, imo.

Thanks guys.

Want to pick up the 1.8 50mm for now at a good price. The price in the 10 18 is great though

Picked up 3 lenses for a great price.

50mm 1.8
18 55 kit lens
55 200 ii
I just want that 10 18 now and all should be good

I got the 10-18mm about a week or two ago.

It's awesome!

ORMs has it for a smidge under R3.3k at the moment.

I'm thinking of getting this 10-18mm while I wait for my 16-35 to be repaired, again. I'm also thinking it might be useful to have the smaller 10-18 so I can leave my 1D at home when I travel.

Still think it's awesome?

Ken Rockwell (one of my favourite reviewers) seems to have nothing but good things to say about the lens.
What did you do to your 16-35?

Ok, never mind then. Thanks anyway...

My 16-35 and camera fell off a tripod. The camera survived...

:crylaugh:

Just kidding - KR isn't a source of inspiration for me but I've read some good things elsewhere about the lens.

And it's on sale ATM
