Canon Pixma MP250 scanner software needed

I have a new PC and can't get MP Navigator EX to work. I don't have the original CD for my printer and downloaded MP Navigator EX 3.0. It installs and when I click to start it gives me an error message that my printer isn't compatible, but it lists my printer.

Any help, or any other software to let me use the scanner on this printer. The print function works fine.

I get the same error message.

Is it acceptable to take a photo of my documents and send it? Scanning costs me about R4 a page at an Internet cafe.
